On-tap at Gambrinus in London, Otario.

Appearance - Deep gold with a persistent head.

Smell - All hops upfront - orange, apricot, and hay. There are subtle malt aromas, but they are clearly overshadowed by the hops.

Taste - Echo of the aroma, with juicy citrus hops flavours. Caramel malt flavour is slightly overshadowed by a strong bitterness.

This beer wasn't dominated by sweet passiofruit hops flavours like I expected a Galaxy Pale Ale to be. It is nicely balanced between fruity and bitter.

Ho-hum pale on-tap at Volo Black Oak takeover. Cloudy apricot coloured body with almost no head. below average mouthfeel. So-so drinkability. I expected more bold flavour from the galaxy, turned up IBU. Almost no aroma, just a very faint whiff of hops.

Had on tap seven weeks later at Burger bar an it was entirely different creation, with ornage and grapefruit distinct taste, hoppy aromas, good drinkability.

hazy golden orange, one finger of white head, good retention with lace all the way down the glass, honestly one of the best looking cask beers I have ever seen. Smell is very malt forward with sweet notes, lots of caramel and toffee, cherry, similar to a lighter barleywine in some ways. Taste is quite malty and a little on the sweet side, mildly bitter with some decent hop notes, lightly earthy with some light pine flavours. Nice cask feel, light carbm, soft and creamy. Not bad but easily forgetable, it is drinkable though.

On tap at Volo for the Black Oak/Cheshire Valley tap takeover. Served in a tulip.

Poured a light golden brown, with a finger of transient offwhite head that falls to just a collar. No retention, but some light lacing. Nose has some light peachy notes, some white fleshed stone fruits, some berry notes and a general moderate sweetness. Taste has some lighter sweetness, and is a moderate reflection of the nose in terms of hop profile. Hints of grain and a faint touch of caramel and butter. Clean and smooth mouthfeel with a light carbonation, almost cask-like even though this was draught. Easy drinkability with a medium light feel. Pleasant overall, but I think the hops could've have been pushed more to the forefront. I'm guessing this was a single hop pale, and I would've liked a bit of a brighter and more vibrant display of the Galaxy hop.

Pint at The Only. Pours a hazy golden, finger of soapy head leaves spots of lacing.

Not much hop aroma on the nose, hints of grassy hay and caramel, touch of citrus. Much more citrus in the flavor, sweet orange segments and lemon rind, touch of grapefruit, juicy but dryly bitter. Slightly hay like, which is something I find in many of CV's beers - sort of a house flavor that arrives in the finish. Lacking some depth. Quite bold and bitter, dry finish, sweet and slightly slick in the body. Not bad but I've certainly had better from this outfit, would have loved a little more in the late boil/dry hopping stage.
