Located in the heart of a trendy upscale neighborhood just off of NW 21st, this particular Trader Joe's has reasonable dedicated parking and is quite near loads of restaurants and bars and specialty shops in the area. So it can easily be included within walking distance in a night out on the town. Cinema 21 is only a block away, and there is a Bistro right next door.

Known for being an importer of exotic foods and accompaniments, they have a reasonable selection of wines as well as beers. The selection is smaller than some dedicated liquor stores, but highly distinctive and usually at a tempting price. This would be a good place to check for a Belgian lambic, for example, or an Italian grand cru. Take care not to be distracted by any of the other unique items.

Trader Joe's is a great place to shop. There is a good selection at this location, especially to find food to pare with beer.

I've seen some decent single bottles available, as well as some packs that are a decent value and worth picking up. The beer selection isn't huge but there is usually something that can be found. The house beer is decent for what it's worth. They do alright.

The location is fairly central and the parking is decent. I've walked here a few times. The staff is always very friendly and down to earth. Something I've always liked about the stores.

I'm a fan of Trader Joe's for a number of reasons: fresh produce, dried fruits and nuts, sweet potato chips, and the most delicious frozen pizza I can think of. Notice that beer is not included in this list...

This store became a Trader Joe's in 2001, following a long run as a Thriftway. A north-facing glass storefront offers a view to always bustling NW Glisan; it's entry always includes a 'Street Roots' vendor and some type of friendly/aggressive solicitor or signature collector for the latest petition. Just part of the neighborhood's vibe... I shopped there last week, strolling the aisles and making a prolonged visit to the beer section, a half-aisle opposite a much larger wine department.

Nothing is refrigerated, which has always been a peeve of mine about the chain. Beers are mostly 4/6 pack bottles, a range of styles with a decent representation of local brews (Deschutes, Rogue, Widmer, etc). There's a fairly large percentage (maybe 1/3rd?) of the bottles that are 'private label' TJ's beers, contracted by breweries in California and the Midwest. I've tried a few over the years and the quality is generally pretty good, the selection (some unusual German-styled lagers among them) is good as well - cans and bottles are plentiful. A fair assortment of imported stuff, typically a handful of Chimays or Unibroues, and some odd canned stuff from Belgium and the Netherlands. One thing I can always count on is Old Rasputin, typically around $7/4-pack. Really the selection is no better than any average grocery store, except that no BMC/macro products exist here.

Service is typical of most any grocery, with the majority of staff upfront at the checkout lines. I've never met or seen anyone stocking the beer shelves and wouldn't expect much help all the same. Prices are reasonable, $6-7 for typical 6-packs and so on.

Not a 'destination' in my opinion, but a decent selection of reasonably-priced, albeit warm, beers to add to the grocery basket.
