This beer looks nice. Pours black with decent head retention. The aroma is maple syrup, oak barrel with hints of vanilla and cherry. The taste follows the nose, but more like a cherry coke that has soaked up flavors from a cheap whiskey barrel. In my opinion this beer is too syrupy and has an ethanol quality that I find unpleasant. That said, it isn’t bad, and improved with warming.

Smell: brown sugar molasses dark fruits cherry vanilla expresso coffee a hint of booze.
Taste: upfront hints of sweet cherry and oak middle of the mouth tart cherry vanilla rasin finishes with some roasted coffee bitterness and a sweet molasses.
Overall: soft creamy mouthfeel medium body
Overall: this beer is really unbalanced and not very good.

Black look, quickly disciplining brown head. Wow, as soon as I barely unscrew this the aroma hits my nose. Strong bourbon on the nose. Strong dark fruit presence. Chocolate, more milky rather than dark chocolate in the smell. Dark steeping malty aroma. Taste. Strong alcohol taste up front and throughout. Big bourbon. Next to that there a not quite substantial dark chocolate taste. A bitterness from both the chocolate and hops. This one begs to go with food, dessert. Mouthfeel, carbonation bites at the roof of the mouth pretty strongly. Maybe swirl this in your glass a bit. Overall, the alcohol on this one really needs to mellow. Gonna let them sit for some more months. I'd suggest letting this warm all the way to room temp even. It's pleasant on the aroma, but kinda smothers the taste.
