A - very dark amber/brown in color. Clear. Moderate carbonation. White 1 finger head that dissipates quickly but leaves a thin layer on top that is retained. 4/5

S - Toasted bread. Smells a bit heavy and bitter. Chocolate. Bit of espresso. Grassy. Grainy. Hint of dates. Nutty. 3.75/5

T - Toasted bread. Nutty. Yeasty. Grassy/earthy hops that lend a hefty bitterness to this beer. Leathery. 3.5/5

M - Medium body. Finishes somewhat dry. Moderate carbonation. Smooth but dry. Slight lingering bitterness. 3.5/5

O - Complex aroma but simple and straightforward flavor. Nice for dinner or a cool day. 3.75/5

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a nice crystal clear mahogany hue with a nice two finger off white head that fades rather quickly, not quite soda fast but fast, to leave no lacing and very thin wisps. Quite average in the long run. Numerical score: 3 (x .05 = .15)

S - Aromas of caramel, toffee, light malts, faint biscuits and a little raisin. Rather underwhelming. Numerical score: 2.75 (x .2 = .55)

T - Taste is lightly creamy, faint caramel/toffee, faint sweet malts, fair amount of biscuit/grain. Very watery. As others have stated the finish has an almost dirty, metallic taste reminiscent of a cheap Euro lager or incredibly bland/thin brown ale. Numerical score: 2 (x .45 = .9)

M - Mouthfeel is incredibly thin and watery with that off finish. Numerical score: 1.75 (x .1 = .18)

O - Overall this beer was a big let down. I expect much more from Sun King and this scottish ale was incredibly subpar. Very thin and watery, mediocre flavours and a lack luster nose. Quite a shame. Numerical score: 2.25 (x .2 = .45)
