Java Mac is the coffee infused version of our Wee Mac Scottish-Style Ale. Locally roasted coffee from Bee Roasters harmonizes with the base beer's hazelnut character and toffee undertones to create a vibrant symphony of rich coffee flavor.
Java Mac was the winner of the Gold Medal in the Coffee Beer category at the 2011 Great American Beer Festival.

16 FL. OZ. can
Served in a becker glass
This beer pours a clear chestnut color with deep amber and rust colored highlights. It is capped with two inches of beige head that leaves far too quickly with no trace of lacing.
I get a big coffee aroma as soon as I crack the can. Coffee dominates the aroma once it is poured. I also get something else. It almost smells like a mocha brownie or cake, but not as sweet. It is more like a mocha bread if that makes sense.
There is lots of coffee flavor. There is something underneath the coffee that tries to come through, but I can't quite distinguish it. I assume it is the base wee heavy trying to make its flavors know, but the coffee pushes it back down to be lost.
Medium to full mouthfeel
This is a good beer, but something is just off. It's like an instant coffee flavor and aroma verses fresh roasted. I just can't grasp what is there. Other than that I like it. It is my first coffee wee heavy. I would like to see more.

It's a smooth coffee nose and flavor with mild malty sweetness and a tiny bit of dark chocolate. Pours dark with a dark cream head and has good lace retention.
Finishes with coffee and chocolate again

This takes an already solid year-round offering and adds some great coffee flavors without being too cloying. Wee-Mac is my go to Sun King offering and I always keep my eye out for this great variation.
