Cold and translucent copper / gold to a shaped pint @ the Tap in Bloomington. 1/2 finger, short lasting off white head leaving just a bit of lace.

Aroma fairly subtle and fruity.

Bitter hop forward with a hint of tropical fruits, this one is a bit one dimensional.

Light bodied, bitter to the front of the tongue.

good, not great.

A - Clear copper gold color, with a moderate white head that fades away completely with time, and laces mildly until then.

S - Bright, lemon and citrus, pine and wildness, all forms of hoppy goodness.

T - Starts with a huge burst of fruit in the form of sour citrus flesh, resin notes. The front is great. Middle comes up with malts, with a toasted seedless rye flavor, slightly off-kilter with the fruit of the front. The close is strongly bitter, a lingering hit of pine and citrus, as well.

M - Well carbonated, which helps keep the drying in the close from getting too taxing. Still, the close does remain punchy and a bit sharp.

O - About 80% of the way to a brilliant beer. The hops are top notch, with a malt that is dialed in when it comes to its presence but seems almost a touch savory, which is not something I was expecting. The feel is appropriate to the hopping, but seems a bit heavy handed in comparison to other brews aiming for this space. Overall, I enjoyed it, but wished for a touch more finesse in the execution.

Just got a taster of this when I was picking up a growler for a friend.

A - Darker orange color that appeared muddled with a fine off-white head. Good lacing.

S - Hoppy on the front. Mostly citrusy but there are some of the usual accompaniments, i.e. herbal, pine. Good malt present and a house ale yeast character.

T - Very similar to the smell. The hops are citrusy again without much to fuss over. There is a sweet malt flavor in the middle that rides in the fact that this is a pale ale and not an IPA. Very mild bitterness that holds some hop flavor but not too heavy on it.

M - Lighter mouth-feel. Moderate carbonation. Balanced on the palate, not too sweet, too bitter, or too flavorful.

Overall, a very solid pale ale. Not strong in any way but still good. If you like the balanced but still hoppy approach of an APA this one is on the mark but not a masterpiece. It's not a beer that I would go to the other side of the city for but if you are already at the brewery I would get this one again.
