From a can!
Tremendous amount of medum chocolate flavor here along with a moderate contribution from the bourbon barrel. Smooth with appropriate light carbonation.
Nearly too sweet but should work great as a dessert beer or aftermeal sipper.

Cold from the tap @ the Tap in Bloomington left over from beer week !

Murky mahogany brown with a short lasting foamy tan head.

Aroma of big molasses, vanilla, bourbon in the nose.

Light bodied, smooth, huge bourbon, hot, sweet, black strap molasses.

Loving it. Sun King does barrel aging right.

16 oz. aluminum pint poured into a Founders snifter. Part of the "King's Reserve" series.

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy amber-brown with a half-inch off-white head. Leaves a small amount of lacing.

Smell: Quite complex. A lot of toffee and caramel with molasses, figs, and vanilla. Bourbon is there, but not particularly strong next to the other aromas. It's integrated very well.

Taste: Similar toffee/molasses/dark fruit combo carries over from the aroma. The oak comes out a lot more here than in the aroma. On the other hand, the bourbon, which was already very subtle in the nose, is practically absent exept for a meager hint on the finish. The label says this spent a full year in bourbon barrels, but I'm really not picking up bourbon at all. I like the flavor of this beer a lot, but I'd really like to be able to taste some bourbon with it.

Mouthfeel: On the light side of medium-bodied. Extremely smooth, goes down very easy.

Overall: I really like this beer, but the lack of bourbon hurts. The base profile is good enough that with a discernable bourbon presence this could be fantastic.
