Brewing is the craft of blending science with artistry then introducing the mystical. Field to Ferment exemplifies this adventure. We will brew this fresh hop ale throughout the entire hop harvest in Yakima using each of four hop varieties as they are harvested. At least that’s the plan. Nature may have a different plan. Such is the harvest. Each can has a date and brew number stamped on the bottom; check FremontBrewing.com for the exact hops used in your beer. In order of harvest, we will brew with fresh Centennial, Simcoe,™ Citra,™ and finally Mosaic™ hops. Field to Ferment represents a colossal collaboration between the brewery and our hop farmers. No one has attempted to brew fresh hop beers throughout the entire season. We will make countless trips between the fields in Yakima and the brewery in Fremont, loaded with tens of thousands of pounds of fresh, juicy hops. Nothing is fresher, nothing is better for a brewer. So, please do enjoy this beer absolutely fresh, and enjoy the adventure this beer represents…Because Fresh Hop Beer Matters! “Fresh hops are the best hops.” – VWP

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell –The aroma of the beer is heavy of a tropical fruit aroma of papaya and mango. Along with these smells comes a decent showing of a hay and grass as well as a little bit of herb and some sweeter orange. With a little bit of caramel and a touch of melon, pone is left with a nice inviting aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a caramel and bready taste that has a decent showing of tropical fruit sweetness of tangerine, papaya and mango upfront. Along with these tastes comes sol hop flavors of a pine and earthy nature, which both grow stronger as the taste advances. Toward the end the sweeter tastes fade a little bit all while the pine and herbal tastes increase in intensity, and with a little bit of grass and earth, one is left with a somewhat dank and easy drinking taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. For the mix of dankness at the end and the sweet upfront the feel is rather nice and creates a nice transitioning feel for the flavors.
Overall – A rather enjoyable brew that is very easy drinking and quite flavorful. A nice brew to try if you have a chance.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz.can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is herbal, some dankness. Taste is of citrus, pine, some herbal notes, fairly bitter. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass

Had skipped over most of Fremont stuff before, really only wanting their big boozy stouts. That changed last October when I tried a Citra version of this beer. Really liked it, giving it an underrated 4.01 on Beer Advocate. Simcoe is another one of my favorite hops, so was looking forward to it.
Poured a gold-to-light amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy head. Could see some bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. World-class spiderweb lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled that Simcoe right away. Also dank skunky resin, pine, grapefruit, pineapple, herbal, earthy grass, passion fruit, tropical notes and peppery spice. Less dankness from the can and more citrus/tropical notes. Smells great for a pale ale. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Very dry. Got Simcoe, peppery spice, dank skunky resin, pine, pineapple, herbal, earthy grass, grapefruit and passion fruit. Taste more like an IPA than a pale ale. Lots of flavor. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Bitter, dry, spicy finish. (Feel - 3.50)
This is an outstanding pale ale. If I was blind tasting this, would have guessed IPA for sure. (Overall - 4.00)

Wet hop season! Green, fresh, sticky aroma. There's a vibrant fresh hop character. Sticky finish. Love it.

This one pours an entirely clear light orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This one smells like dirty and bitter pine, orange rind, grapefruit pith, and biscuity malt.
This series has been a delight so far. This has such a nice clean pineyness to it, with light supporting malt, grassy hops, tea, floral hops, and grapefruit rind. This is such a classic wet hop build here- earthy and bitter all the way through.
This is light bodied, crisp and very clean, with a good level of carbonation and a very high level of drinkability.
Fremont definitely seems to make some of the absolutel best fresh hop beers in the country.

Poured from a 12oz can with a packaged on date of 9/17/18; into a pub glass.
Appearance- gold, a barrage of carbonation bubbles and just a small amount of floating funk; a thick, froathy white head that leaves nice scattered lacing!
Smell- orange, peach, mango and dandelion!
Taste - flavor profile is consistent with the nose, however the dandelion is more prominent and there’s more earthy character.
Feel - easy drinking, mild bitterness, with earthy tones that bring more balance!
Overall - an APA that falls more in the IPA range based on it’s overall body of work, however, to me, it certainly is an APA, just a little more on the hoppy side!

Aroma of pine, mango, some citrus. Golden amber, clear save for the "particles" drifting around. Tall and bubbly white head recedes quickly to a few bubbles in the middle and a ring. Disjointed lacing. Initial taste is citrus, with some malt presence in the background, transitioning to a piney bitter finish. As expected for a fresh hop ale, hops dominate the aroma and taste. The aftertaste is a lingering piney bitterness. Enjoyable, nicely done.

Clear amber brew with plenty of foam in the Maredsous goblet. Aroma of lime and a whiff of cucumber. Pleasantly sudsy in the mouth. Tastes of green mango and grapefruit. Expansive hop aroma and flavor, what you signed on for.
Slight sweet malt taste to start. Spicy and rather acidic. Pencil shavings in the finish. Fairly bitter aftertaste with a woody touch. Another good entry in the single hop category and gives me a better feel for Simcoe. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station.
