This vividly recalls, and reprises, its glorious predecessor. Impossibly deep and rich in its aromas and flavors, there are no less than a dozen different species of caramel, heretofore unknown to the world, identifiable in this beer. And there is also the finest toffee, molasses, bourbon, & dark chocolate--all elevated by hints of maple, leather, tobacco, oak, and the faintest touch of allspice. These components all swirl together in a harmonious dance, with no one of them dominant, or inferior, or in any other way mismatched to its counterparts. It is, finally, as soft and smooth as a baby's skin, and almost as precious.

If barley-wines are the dean of all beer styles, this, for me, is the dean of all barley-wines. Just utterly exquisite, and ultimately transcendent, like the one that came before it, and, the way Fremont keeps going, the one that shall come next...

From draft; bottle may vary. Even from the pour you can tell this isn't as dense and sticky as brew 1000. Coats the glass with a thin sheen that washes away quickly. More translucent but a lovely mahogany. Smell hints of tobacco but settles into burnt sugar and spice cabinet. Tootise Rolls and Rolos up front, maple hard candy middle, vanilla coming in. Ends with integrated heat, oak, woodier vanilla. Full mouthfeel but just a hair too light ... though I'm quibbling as this makes it more drinkable than B1K and I often consider drinkability a plus. You could drink half of this bottle without it becoming cloying where B1K is more attuned to bigger shares. Horses for courses I suppose. No hop presence whatsoever. No need for further aging. Fine liquid sure to win converts to the "barleywine is life" movement.

Pours a muddied brown with just a smidge of head. The initial aroma presents a deep raisin and dark fruit with a hint of barrel that makes you close your eyes and smile to the goodness of the brew that you are about to imbibe. Succulent, sweet, and smooth best describe the flavors. I sure wish I had more, because this is a BA barley wine done right!

L: Deep maroon and mahogany hues with a rich khaki head and moderate lacing
S: Oak, figs, and dark fruits
T: Oatmeal raisins dunked in bourbon
F: Chewy viscous body with a subtle carb
O: Awesome. This was a slightly more restrained version of Brew 1000 in my opinion. Top shelf barleywine is rare and this beer very much belongs in that club. Expertly crafted beer by Fremont, as always, and desperately hope I can trade for a Brew 3000 if that ever gets produced!

L: pours a inviting brown color with only a film of brown head
S: big smooth and rich bourbon barrel with the classic caramel covered raisins I love it babw's
T: rich bourbon soaked caramel covered raisins. Sharp sweetness is smoothed out by the bourbon and oak. Awesomely executed babw with the barrel leading the way.
F: medium thickness, fully coats my mouth and sticks to my teeth. Very smooth and easy drinking.

Dark appearance that is a characteristic of barleywine with no head. Strong caramel aroma. Taste is also strong caramel with no alcohol taste. No need for further aging

Fremont at the top of their game. Not only one of the best barleywines ever produced, one of the best beers period. Makes Bourbon County seem pretty pedestrian.

Black in color. Off-white head that receeds into a thin collar. Aroma is vanilla, cherries, chocolate, floral, bourbon and spice. Creamy mouthfeel that finishes with a smooth burn on the back of the throat. Taste of dark cherries, chocolate, orange, vanilla and a little bit of spiceyness. The bourbon is more noticeable in the finish. This is a outstanding beer. I wish total wine would have let me buy two.
