One of the best if not the best DIPAs that I have ever had. My Parents brought me back some from their trip to Seattle and it is well worth getting a plane ticket just for this beer not to mention all of the other great beers Fremont does. Awesome IPA.

On tap at the brewery.
Crusty white over pale gold. 4
Mixed citrus with a dank bite. 4
Speck of cracker, then grapefruit, some resin, underripe papaya, lots of grass and lime zest. Decent scratch. 4
Warm, clean, lt-med. 4

New school. Still C hops over tropical, though. Serviceable. 4

22 oz. bottle:

Pours hazed golden. A fluffy, lasting head leaves lacing down the glass.

The smell is of fresh pine and citrus. Caramelized bread and herbal-like spice comes through. Strong and inviting.

The taste is of fresh oranges, grapefruit and pine needles. Just enough sweet malt to keep it smooth. Alcohol dangerously well-hidden, making it drink like an IPA more than an Imperial. Very drinkable.

A wonderful DIPA with hop character that is complex and rich tied together by a chewy malt backbone.

Very well-priced at about five bucks for the bomber at Safeway in Bremerton, WA..

Bottle Date: none
Palate Contaminants: none

Appearance is a pale, slightly cloudy gold. Nice fine head, too.

The smell is nice and lemony, sweet and tart. It also has some stone fruit, mostly peach, but maybe a little apricot. A little malt and a little candy, independent of the fruit, too.

The citrus mostly goes away in the taste, and the peach and other stone fruit are the principal flavors. There's also much more bitterness in the taste than on the nose, but it's not totally overpowering. It's slightly lactic, too, which might blend with the right cheese well (probably something on the salty side). Overall, the fruit and bitterness are just not in the right balance – and that would actually be a near miracle because both are very present.

Feel is fairly smooth, not roughly carbonated. The bitter character is what hangs around in the aftertaste.

12 oz can packed 07/19/16.

Definitely a slug of yeast in the bottom of this can. Contributes to the orange hue significantly. Frothy white head with good retention. Smells tropical, but unfortunately also shows signs of oxidation. Flavor follows similar to the nose unfortunately and has a bit of cardboard / fruity bite. Not the best beer but not awful. Regardless have to review what is in front of me.

Sweet malt, meets hops, in a nice melding of a brew. Malts are sweet, orange, light crystal, and bready. Hops are juicy, then bitter, then tannic. Notes of grapefruit, tangerine, tropical-pineapple/mango, woody, resinous with some hop stickiness to boot. Short, clean bitterness in the finish. Minor lingering effect in the aftertaste. Subtle alcohol is present with a shade of warmth/heat noticeable at times. Tropical flavors are more prevalent as the beer approaches room temperature. Body is fine. I love the juiciness of the hops and complementary sweetness from the grist. Being nit picky, not a huge fan of the backend bitterness. It's a little much for me. Drinkability is pretty decent for a double, which is a good sign to me. It's a nice take on the style. Job well done.

Amber with a dense, off-white head.

Smell is orange, pine, caramel, and nutty earth.

Taste is pine, earth, lemon, grapefruit, and a little bit of copper or iron.

Soft but bone dry.
