Received in a trade. A little boozy, that has been mentioned. Overall, very enjoyable IIPA. Lighter on the malt side, which I'm a fan of. AMAZING nose up front. It just hits you. I'm in NC, but if you are in the PNW and haven't tried this yet, make that your homework for the coming weekend.

22 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is lots of piney, peppery, resiny hops with a little fruit and biscuit malt.

The flavor is sweet malts and some fruit with a big resiny piney bitter finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice DIPA. Big hops with some sweetness to balance.

Had on tap at the brewery. Review from notes.

A: Served in a goblet, the sister was a hazy golden orange with one finger of white head on top.

S: Lots of citrus/tropical fruit. Some grass, melon, grapefruit, lemon, and a little pine.

T: Similar to the aroma with plenty of tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, orange zest, melon, and a slightly piney finish.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Hint of alcohol on the finish as it warms.

O: A really nice DIPA from Fremont, hopefully they will start to make it more often.

on-tap at the brewery

appearance: served in an unbranded chalice, bright pale-orange body, light beige film

smell: grapefruit, lemon zest, herbal, spicy notes

taste: Brewed with calypso and bravo hops - 2 varietals I'm not overly familiar with. Spicy and earthy - bitter grapefruit rind, moderate alcohol notes, sweet malt. Interesting - think I like The Brother better though

mouthfeel: medium, thick oily body

overall: good

The last half of my bomber was more enjoyable; more hop flavors and less pure bitterness and alcohol, much more balance so I imagine if I had it again I would have it at a warmer temp. Fremont is excellent, and this is by no means terrible, but by Fremont standards I would say there is much room for improvement.

edit: tried this beer again and was shocked at what a different experience it was. Especially the aromas. Very ppleasant. Taste was still a tad boozy but the hop characters were much more prevalent. Im so glad I tried it again.

From a 12oz can.

A - golden amber, translucent, ~.5" white head
S - hops - tropical fruit, mango, grapefruit. Some sweet bready notes and caramel as well
T - Begins with some bready malts mixed with tropical fruit, hops and bitterness build a bit throughout, notes of pine crop up towards the finish. Medium bitterness in the finish.
M - medium bodied
O - really look forward to this beer every summer, delicious albeit a tad boozy. Can't drink many of these but am happy to sit down with 2 or 3.
