Notes / Commercial Description:
A tiny beautiful something showcases a new hop variety, El Dorado. We started playing around with this hop last year. We brewed a pilot batch with this hop exclusively and one with it blended with some of our other favorite Northwest varieties. In the end, we decided that the El Dorado had such a unique and interesting character on its own, so we decided to brew it as a “single hop” pale ale. The aroma and flavor offer intense candied orange and citrus zest. A touch of flaked oats provide a rounded, silky mouthfeel. And like our other hoppy offerings, tiny was brewed to finish dry and clean.

Served up both on draft and from a 16.9 oz bottle, standard pint glass.

Maine's "atbs" pours a solid, slightly hazy burnished-gold with a fairly persistent, abundant, fine head (carapils) and a fine bead. Moderate lacing on the glass.

Citrus comes through on the nose, mostly. Candied orange peel has been mentioned repeatedly, and I agree completely. There's a little bit of piney aroma underneath, but you have to look for it. The nose is very pleasant, but not hugely aromatic. The hops rest on top of a bready malt base.

The flavor and mouthfeel of this pale ale are perfection to me. You get a hit of orange peel and a touch of sweetness, then a moment where the base malt comes through very strongly. Next is a subtle piney/citrus bitterness and then the hops slowly give way to a subtle hint of the caramel malt. Everything's in balance, and it leaves you wanting to take another sip. The oats add just enough body and mouth-coating properties to keep this from being too light/thin. It's creamy and soft without being flabby and gassy.

Overall, this is an exceptionally drinkable beer. Sessionable - but for the premium price point (though understandable), this could be an all-day ale. A prime example of what can be done with balance vs. clubbing you senseless with IBUs and ABV.

Had this as part of an 8 beer flight at the brewery. There is a card which come with each beer & this one nails it. Nice subtle hop flavours which are dominated by the unique candied orange flavour in this APA. The mouthfeel is what I'd call a zesty foam carbonation feel. Not my favourite from Maine Beer Co but their beer is top notch & I'd gladly have it again if given the chance.

16.9 oz bottle poured in to a nonic pint glass.

The beer's color varies greatly depending on lighting; pale yellow-gold with any backlight to a copper orange away from lighting. It's a heady brew, 2-plus F of white froth that endures to a thick film and leaves heavy lacing. Not quite clear.

Smells of candied orange and general light citrus.

Mostly orange taste with a tart grapefruit finish. Caramel malt comes alive after a few sips, always good in an APA.

Medium sand smooth body. Not sweet, yet not very bitter. The oats are likely boosting the body and belie the 5.5% abv.
Zest clean orange citrus finish.

As good as it is, the value makes it likely that this is a first and last.

Clear, orange, sticky white head. Tastes straight up like oranges with a nice bitterness and a tiny bit of bright zest flavors. Smells the same as the taste. This is such a simple, basic stuff well done beer. Love it.
