This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a ruddy to hazy yellow color with light streams of carbonation seen rising at a moderate pace. About a two finger white foamy head dissipates within less than about forty seconds leaving a light lingering semi-sliding lacing. The smell starts off with a sharp mango, orange and grapefruit leading into a sweet refreshing crisp grassiness. The taste combines and revolves around the citrus and tropical notes to sweeten and make crisp. There’s no aftertaste but it does have a quick tropical to citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely as an AIPA, the harshness from the bitterness is there but refined nicely. Overall, Maine Beer Company did an excellent job of making a session AIPA. Definitely one to have again.

A spectacular session IPA. Tons of flavor that presents something different from most other sessions. Keep the hop program going, it's producing some very nice beers.

Gave this a try at my local tap room. Wasn't sure what to expect as I didnt know anything about it prior. I was pleased with it. I would never have guessed it was a session if I didn't know. Had taste of a full octane brew.

Poured a cloudy golden yellow color with just over a fingers worth of foamy white head. The nose is very sweet with tropical fruits like mango leading and a bit of bread and pine following up. Definitely a session beer but has plenty of flavor. The taste follows the nose with mango, some citrus, and follows through with a bit of pine. The feel is medium and finished dry. This is a good session beer. You get that it is but you don't mind because it still has great flavors.

From bottle dated 6/15/2016

Subtle citrus hops with a nice malt backbone. Exceedingly refreshing a drinkable.

Would love to try this one super fresh but even as is was a very nice IPA (though perhaps more APA).

Very nice, very drinkable session IPA with a very smooth mouthfeel and full flavor despite the very low ABV. If it weren't so expensive, I would drink this as a daily drinker. This is what a perfect session should be.

Tastes like a summer in Maine - breezy, cool, bright, and fresh

On tap at the brewery. Pours hazy golden with fluffy white head. Aroma is of citrusy hops, tropical fruit and bready malt. Body is full and crisp. Citrusy hops, tropical fruit and bready malt fill the mouth. Finish is long and hoppy. Excellent brew.

L - pours a lightly opaque gold. Slight haziness, but I'm not sure if that's the beer or the condensation on the glass. Man it's hot.

S - has a short, sharp aroma. Quick little jab. Lime, orange, lemon. Bread. Summertime freshness.

T - lots of flavor for a session! Buttered popcorn is paramount. Is that the Nelson hops? Clean and crisp. Earth and melon, really unique flavors. Some lighter citrus flavors in the third act. Orange, nectarine, apricot. Finishes with a surprising amount of bitterness. Would've never guessed the ABV is only 4.7%.

F - full-bodied, low on carb, soft, and creamy. Nothing I'd expect from a session. Crazy the things MBC can do.

O - fantastic session. The hop program seems to be focused on uniqueness as far as I can tell. Lots of crazy hop combinations and I am digging it. MBC truly shows their brewing prowess.

16.9 oz bottle poured into shaker pint bottled on 6/15

A: hazy dirty straw color with a slight white soapy head that settles quickly.

S: lots of fruitiness sweet papaya mango with a candied smell a little bit of an earthy spiciness on the very end.

T: wow this is very fruity with a stupendously different taste. It is very fruity but rustic earthiness almost like a nectarine or apricot with a lot of earthiness. Such a different taste reminds me of a italian seasoning taste as well on the finish.

M: light to medium lowish carbonation very dry like most of their beers

O: This beer is really different it starts out fruity but morphs into this almost salty herbal seasoning taste that is really extrordinary. Still has a delicious mango papaya taste up front though. I did not know the ABV of this beer before I wrote my review for a session ale this beer is insanely flavorful.

Smell: light citrus tones rise to the nose.

Taste: caramel, papaya, melon, orange, and a mild bitterness level.

Mouthfeel: lighter in body. Crisp throughout with some dryness arriving late.

Overall: a mild mannered IPA that is a real sessionable beer at the lower alcohol level.

Pours a cloudy golden color. Aroma is light refreshing citrus. Flavor is citrusy and refreshing but has a very light watery finish. Body is very thin, light and watery. Overall nice stuff going on here but at the end of the day it's a light watery beer wishing it were more.

Nice golden colored pour. Decent amount of lacing after the head vanished. Sweet and fruity, some biscuit malts. Biggest flavor is canned peaches and its accompanying heavy syrup, papaya, sweet grapefruit. I understand it's a session IPA but it is a little thin. Awesomely drinkable still.

500 ml bottle, bottled on 03/23/16. Acquired a bottle of this stuff from the local Binny's. Dedicated to Henry the Porcupine.

Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.

A - A juicy burnt sienna orange pour; a bit darker than expected, for the low abv, and it continues to pour ever darker as the bottle drinks on. Finger of thin wispy soft white froth. Head could be a bit fuller, but leaves good scattered fluffy lacing. Appears well carbonated. Looks excellent.

S - Sweetened honeyed bready / caramel malts meets a very juicy fruit forward hop profile. Notes of mango, apricot, peach, papaya. Very juicy, fruity, & tropical smelling.

T - Taste is the same: sweet & juicy. This thing literally tastes like a glass of nectar. Huge notes of mango, papaya, peaches, apricots, nectarines. Sweetened honeyed bready malts amidst the caramelized citrus fruit goodness.

M - Feel is extremely smooth, crisp, fruity, & juicy. Light-bodied, easy drinking, with good carbonation. Not bitter or dry, nor is it particularly resinous. Very drinkable stuff.

Overall, an excellent session IPA, packing tons of flavor for the 4.70% abv. Very recommended stuff. Looking forward to the next beer in this series.

On-tap 5/15/2016 at Flynn’s in Mansfield, MA, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a cloudy light gold color, with a large off-white head that fades very slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, floral hops and light caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a nice burst of piney hops bitterness followed by some citrus and caramel sweetness. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a very good balance. The after-taste is hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good IPA to drink for a long time.

Pale and very hazy yellow. White head, good cascading lace.

Vinous and grassy aromas. Lemony, city's, and herbal.

Clean flavor. Lemon zest, pine, grassy.

Medium body and dry. Crisp with moderate carbonation.

A very good beer that's highly drinkable. I really like the flavor and body for such a drinkable beer.

Had on-tap 03/23/16 at Maine Beer Company in Freeport, Maine

Appearance - Cloudy brew, golden in color, with an island of off-white suds sitting in the center, with a thin ring of suds lining the edge of the glass.

Smell - Juicy citrus, with hints of pineapple and mango.

Taste - Follows the nose. Orange juice, dirtied with notes of pineapple, mango and bready malt sweetness. Finishes much the same; sweet with a touch of hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full in body with low carbonation. Slick, velvety texture with a light, semi-dry finish.

Overall - Pretty good, but nothing that stands out from the pack in this sea of IPAs we find ourselves swimming in.

Might be the best session ipa I have ever had. This beer does so well in bringing out so much flavor while keeping a delicate beauty in the body. Pine, grapefruit, caramel, bubblegum, mango, orange all strongly represented. Hop complexion is balanced and flavorful, more defined in taste than smell

Very cloudy pale straw body with a sticky, soapy bone-white head. Aroma is huge on tropical fruit, big citrus, hints of grass. Flavor is bitter and juicy up front, with a big wave of tropical fruit and citrus coming through towards the finish. Feel is very creamy, with a medium body and a medium carbonation level. Not thin and watery like some sessions. All in all a really nice session beer. Not as much flavor as mo, lunch and the like, but good nonetheless.

this beer just blew me away, better than Lunch and Another One. pours a very hazy Amber color, nice bubbly head that fades quickly but continues to generate from the middle. smell is tropical and citrusy, pretty big nose. taste reminds me of a "dinner-lite", it's juicy, fruity, tropical, citrusy, with a little bit of malt on the end. the feel is spot on, sessionable crushable flavor bomb. great great beer, at least the 032316 batch is.

Look - Very light colored, straw yellow with a large, foamy, 1.25" head. A lot of lacing.

Smell - Fresh and hoppy

Taste - Hoppy and light. Not much depth, no malts that i taste. But the hops are DELICIOUS.

Feel - Very light, exactly what you look for in the feel of a session IPA.

Overall - If not for the price this would be my go to session IPA. But when you consider the cost of a pint is $6 and the cost of a 15 pack of all day IPA is $15, this is a one time buy.

500 mL bottle from 3/23/16 poured into Lawson's ale glass.

L: Hazy pale gold with 2F+ head, good retention, and significant lacing and ring.

S: Muted a bit, but very nice tropical and citrus fruits, with dank pine afterwards.

T: Grapefruit and lemon up front. You get the biscuit malt bill, very mild Citra, little of the Amarillo or anything else. Some pine on the close.

F: Light body, Light to medium carbonation for good drying. Very drinkable. Well constructed.

O: Top-flight session ale, but value vs. a Lawson's Super Session II or Carton Boat isn't there.
