We brewed this special IPA to commemorate the establishment of the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. We incorporated Maine-grown barley and wheat, along with generous amounts of hops with flavors and aromas of pine and citrus, reminiscent of the outdoors. Hops listed as Columbus, Idaho 7, Magnum, Mosaic, and Simcoe. Cheers to Mother Nature and all she provides us!

Yo, this is what I’m talkin’ about.

Excellent IPA from an outstanding small brewer out of the top right corner of the States. The eyes spy an unusually bright straw color, the nose sniffs grass and pine with…something else? Perfect body on this one, hops galore without becoming overpowering, a crackery presence in there as well, and another winner from Maine Beer Co.

Peeps from places other than New England and the Mid-Atlantic: this is a tremendous example of the style. Yes please.

Pours a little cloudy but pretty clear straw gold with a thick white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is citrus and some pine. Flavor follows the nose, sweet citrus up front, piney bitterness in the finish. Feel is light bodied and lightly carbonated. Overall, top notch.

500ml bottle. Clear golden pour, fine white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of pine, citrus. Taste offers light grapefruit, lemon, fir, grassy. Mellow sweet bitterness lingers throughout. Resiny, mild astringency.

On tap at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a clear and clean looking light orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like super clean and herbal piney bitterness, marijuana, some light earthiness, grapefruit, and melon.

This is absolutely spot on for a West Coast style IPA. It’s super clean and refreshingly bitter. There’s lots of pine, almost cedar - like the Woods in the name. There’s pithy grapefruit and lemon, some melon, and marijuana. There’s no real malt character here.

This is light bodied, clean, crisp and fantastically drinkable.

We don’t see Maine Beer Co fresh out here often, but when we do, it’s a must drink.

500ml bottle. Label is stamped with the date of '08AUG23', for bottling.
Clear to slightly cloudy (as the glass is filled), straw colored body. Two fingers of white bubbly head, which retreats slowly. Leaves behind spots and strings of lacing.
Aroma of orange, pineapple, and pine resin. Dank overall.
Taste is sweet and full of resin, with flavors of pine, orange, grapefruit, and garlic. Bitterness is kept low. Extended aftertaste, which is fruity and expresses pine.
Medium mouth feel, with a soft texture. Over time there is so built up tongue sting. Very good carbonation.
A beer that provides a north pine woods experience.

500 ml bottle, bottled APR 11, 2023, pretty fresh, all the way from Maine. I love Maine Beer Company, so let's see what we've got.

Poured to La Fin Du Monde tulip.
A: Pours nice bright yellow. More pale ale looking than it is IPA, finger of super fresh frothy white suds. Excellent spotty lacing.
S: Super fresh & floral aroma. Absolutely mouth-watering.
T: Beautifully bright, crisp, clean, floral. Fresh herbal / grassy hops, notes of lemon drop & pine.
F: Exceptionally smooth, crisp, clean, & easy-drinking.
Absolutely love Maine Beer Company.

16.9oz bottle purchased from the fridge for $7.49. Bottled on 11APR23, so this is exactly 30 days old.

Look: An aggressive pour yielded a very pale, straw-colored beer with a super soft haze and one finger of a fluffy white head. Nice lacing. The beer became a bit hazier after swirling and pouring the bottom of the bottle. Still translucent though.

Smell: It smells really nice. Very citrusy with bright, lemony aromas as well as fresh pine and woody notes. Orange zest and grapefruit notes also come through. Green bell pepper notes on the finish after swirling the glass.

Taste: Very delicious. The taste very much mirrors the nose. It is very quaffable and has a moderately bitter, pithy and slightly peppery finish. The citrus notes are so bright and the beer is very light-bodied, so it is super easy to drink. It's also interesting in that the citrus notes are so fresh and vibrant yet I would really not consider this beer to be "juicy" at all. The beer has some white bread crust and crackery malt. I would say that the pine notes are less prevalent on the palate than on the nose.

Feel: It's light to medium bodied. The carbonation is spot on.

Overall: I think that this is is one of the better IPAs from Maine Beer Company that I have had. I have rated all of the ones that I have had pretty high, so it's hard to differentiate based on the ratings alone. I really enjoy the lightness of this one, and the bright, fresh citrus-forward hop notes. This would be a really nice beer to enjoy during the Spring or Summer months.

From the website:
Flavor profile: Aromas of melon, pineapple, and pink grapefruit. Notes of onion, garlic, and subtle pine with a faint malt grain sweetness.
Hops: Simcoe, Mosaic, Columbus, Idaho 7
Malt: American 2-Row, Blue Ox Pale, Blue Ox Wheat, Blue Ox Vienna

(16.9 oz bottle, 069 11APR23; purchased cold single at the brewery yesterday... poured into my Belhaven pub pint)

L: clear, pale jade gold; tight, frayed white foam, slow to break and fade... keeps a thin, messy, broken cap... does lace in snakey splotches if taking big sips

S: oaky white wine, perfumy floral linen musk, rustic multigrain bread crust; excellent potency and inviting allure... the aromas I crave in a gal's armpits (nowhere else!)

T: much of the same aromas imprinted upon the palate upon first sip; woody, grassy-earthen bitterness most prominent in the immediate aftertaste... more of an American Pale Ale (I guess everything has to be an IPA now) or British IPA (coupled with sparkling white wine)... most reminds me of my initial encounters with Daisy Cutter (which has gotten flabby and fat over the years) or a bolder version of Deuchar's IPA, hmm?!?... green lawn-leafy and (yeasty-)spicy (or vice versa) as it goes; light, white vinous tone heavy under the hops... mmm, like a non-fruity hoppy Duvel??

F: resinous and bitter-boozy bracing as I like it... glassy residual drag on the aft... bitey warmth sets in quick, churns and burns... lager-like but lithely luscious... perking me up all over

O: a clear standout (my first time tasting it) among the four pours I had at the brewery yesterday; temperature had no effect on its immediate impact... this has unexpectedly leapt to the top of my list of Maine faves (sounded like it was a fave of my beer-tender as well) (2120)
