Notes / Commercial Description:
The friendship between Half Acre and Maine Beer Company and the good times we’ve shared have become as legendary as the Sapping Mammoth featured in our first collaboration. Expanding on this partnership, we felt it was time for the story to continue with the Son of Sapping Mammoth. For this beer we brewed an IPA featuring Midwest-grown grain as a tribute to our Chicago friends. We hope you enjoy!

Cloudy, dirty gold color. Lumpy head. Lots of larger lace spots.

Classic APA aroma with pale malt and light, floral hop. A bit of prickly, cutting bitterness.

The flavor is more bitter than the smell. It's straight up black pepper with a pale malt background. The body is solid and the carbonation is as expected. This may be more of an APA than an IPA, but it works for both categories.

Kind of a perfect hybrid of Maine & Half Acre styles. You have the light, lean, and very dry house style of Half Acre, blended with a tropical fruity zest and freshness of Maine IPA’s.

Pale orange and opaque, hazy on purpose, lots of delicate lacing,
Tropical mango aroma, grapefruit zest, clean yeast.
Taste is lightly bitter, grapefruit and mango, light pale malt.
Finishes dry with a light but firm bitterness, ample carb.
Very clean, hoppy, and refreshing. Lean and agile, if you want caramel malt look somewhere else. This is a really nice dovetail between HA & Maine.

Somebody needs a nap down there...

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that left a short head covering the surface after it settled down along with lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—grapefruit seems to stand out in particular—along with notes of biscuit malts and hints of pine.
T: The taste has flavors of orange and grapefruit citrus along with stronger notes of pine towards the back end. The hops also contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp and prickly on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer has a nice balance between the citrusy and piney flavors.

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow, MA. The beer has a cloudy, straw yellow appearance with a medium sized head that stays steady. Bread-cracker malt smell with a little bit of citrus like mango. Has a pretty sweet taste with more pine-citrus apparent. Medium body with good carbonation. Overall, good appearance and mouthfeel.

Not impressed with this ipa at all.

Pours nicely with a slight chill haze.

Very little nose at all, bready with some hops.

Taste is really thin. I prefer more dense IPAs. Even the Macro West Coast IPAs have more stuffing than this.

No length at all and it finishes fast, not leaving any telltale hopulin oils on the tongue.

I don't like Lunch and I like this one less.

From the bottle with a bottling date of Nov 20, 2018. Sampled on December 4, 2018.

The appearance is an unfiltered, slight cloudy looking yellow color with a tremendous, puffy white head that fades and leaves lacing.

Bright aroma of fruity and tropical fruit hops and maybe a little floral after effect. A more muted white bread character.

At least a medium and smooth body.

The flavor begins sweet and toasty but erupts with a vibrant tropical fruit zesty note that ends mildly dry and lingers on the palate, cleanly at the end.

500 ml. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over an ever so slightly hazy golden body with nice sticky lacing. Nose of tropical fruit, citrus (orange), and a bit of pine. Taste of pine and citrus with a finish of citrus pith and slight pine resin. Aromas and flavors are in almost perfect harmony, ultra smooth with a nice feel. As it warms, the juicier it gets! Overall, very enjoyable and would definitely have again. Cheers!

1 PINT .9 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in an IPA glass

This beer pours pale yellow with a slight haze. It is topped with a voluminous white head that leaves some spotty lacing.

The smell is sweet. It has hints of citrus.

The taste starts out sweet. Then, like with the aroma, I get light citrus. I get some biscuit-y flavor as well. It is a pretty mild IPA.

Medium to light bodied.

It is an easy drinker.

16.9oz bottle poured into a globe.

A: Dull golden color with a decent haze to it. Bone white head retains at a quarter inch. Webby lacing.

S: Freshly juiced tangerine and candied lemon. White grapefruit. Leafy and earthy. Very slight pepper. Doughy malt.

T: Plenty of pithy white grapefruit. Lemon. Clementine. Peppery and spicy hop oils build on the back end and turn to resin. Bitterness is firm and even. Simple cracker and dough malt base. Bitter and oily hop finish.

M: Light/medium body. Some light creaminess. Deeply scrubbing carbonation. Hop astringency clamps at the teeth.

O: Simple and straightforward. Light bodied and bone dry. Easy enough to drink, but the hop astringency does set in a bit though.
