A hazy golden orange color with a a fluffy off-white head, this is the ubiquitous MBC IPA profile: well-defined fruity citrus aromas, including tangerines, some apricot and mango, and a subtle malt component as always (maybe my favorite part of the nose).

The tangerine and apricot and mango form a perfect fruity flavor complement to the malt flavor, just a perfect balance of flavors crammed into a beautiful 6.5% ABV package.

MBC is a world-class brewery, IMHO, and I feel very lucky to get their stuff a half a continent away in Northern Indiana. They are the real deal.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a slightly hazy pale orange with a frothy white head.

Aroma is a spicy herbal tangerine.

Taste is fruity citrus.

Delicious

Poured a copper body with one-finger head that sticks around for awhile. The aroma is hoppy and floral with minimal malts. Smooth, sweet, medium body with no bitterness at all. A slight malt base of caramel/sweet malts with some heft to it underneath a mainly tropical fruit (mango) hoppiness with clean finish. Great beer to relax with and worth trying.

500ml bottle - dated 05/21/19 - poured into a large wine stem at 50F

Pours a mostly hazy deep brass hue, with a finger of sudsy white head that quickly recedes to an irregular idland of foam and thin collar. A swirl leaves a fair amount of spotty lacing.

Nose: Incredibly saturated. Some beers do well with a couple weeks to nellow them out, but MBC stuff is absolutely prime right off the truck. Sweet, ripe tangerine just wafts out of the glass. Mango, papaya, Meyer lemon, dried pineapple rings, peach gummy rings, and some hints of dried dark fruit in the background. I'm also getting some fragrant lavender, as well as some other sweet floral aromas. There's just a faint touch of toasty grain making up the grist foundation, giving a sweet, honey, bready vibe.

Palate: That honeyed malt sweetness hits first, but does not become as sweet as the nose suggests, which is a good thing. Apricot, pear, peach, and mango all follow with a succulent intensity. There's a suggestion of pineapple beneath the first wave. Bright citrus notes are close behind, suggesting orange, tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit. The beer now becomes delightful dry, and the fruity notes fall back to reveal a gentle pithy bitterness, which becomes more resinous as the finish sets in. The beer finishes fully pithy, resinous, and chalky dry, but the overall bitterness is constantly restrained and inviting. One thing I notice, as I have with a few other really fresh MBC beers, is that you can tell that the main ingredient is water. It's not watery by any stretch of the imagination, but you can still tell that it's made of water. It's hard to explain, and it's a signature MBC trait, but it just contributes massively to how crisp and refreshing this beer is.

Mouthfeel/Body: The beer is on the lighter side of medium bodied. It's light on its toes - lean, agile. It isn't heavy or cloying, but has a softness to it, providing texture. There's also some hop oils, especially evident in the finish, which contribute more softness to it. Effervescence is lively, but very fine, and accentuates the airy crispness, without being seltzery. Crisp and refreshing with unparalleled drinkability.

Overall: Maine Beer Company is one of New England's standout breweries. Brewing great beer is one thing, and can be mastered by careful, precise science. Brewing great beer, with a consistent signature style that can ve instantly recognized is,something entirely different. It's an art form. It takes than precision. It takes passion. This beer embodies everything that sets MBC apart. It doesn't blend it. It stands on the rooftops and screams. It's light, crisp, thirst-quenching, yet big, bold, densely saturated with flavour, while remaining clean, cohesive, and bright. It toes the line between classic West Coast traits, and new age hopping methods, to create what is, in my opinion, the perfect platform for the India Pale Ale. They gave us this beer on May 21st, 2019 to thank us for our loyalty as beer lovers, and for doing what's right. They need not thank us, but they have done so in our language, clear and concise, and to this, I say... You're welcome.

500 mL bottle. Slightly hazy orange body. Smells of fruit hops. Apricot, mango, etc. Tastes of fruity hops as well. More apricot, some papaya. Sweet grainy malt behind it. Low bitterness, but a touch of a spicy note in the back end. Medium body. It's good, but these fruity IPAs aren't my favorite.

A: Pours a lightly hazy yellow color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves good lacing

S: Lots of tropical fruit up front along with some citrus and pine. Guava, mango, and pineapple stand out

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with a wave of tropical fruit followed by some light pine and citrus. Bready malt balances things out. Moderately bitter. Finishes with lingering tropical fruit notes

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth

O: A very good IPA that packs a tropical punch. Super easy to drink. Definitely worth tracking down
