Style: American Amber / Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our take on an American amber ale. Complex malt bill delivers notes of dark raisin, chocolate and biscuit. Copious additions of American hops yield notes of pine and citrus.

Not my favorite style of beer, but this is really tasty. Can't wait to try more stuff from MBC.

It poured a very dark red with some light brown edges. A small white head appeared for less than a minute. The lacing was light and stuck to the pint glass for a good minute then gently slid down the sides of the glass. The smell was the hops and caramel, some pine and citrus enter in the background. The taste was sweet and bitter between the hops and caramel with some spiciness. The palate was well carbonated with a slightly creaminess coating the mouth and still had a dry finish. Overall, this was impressive.

Zoe scared me a bit at first with the "hoppy" designation. The beer poured out more like a brown ale than an amber. Thick, robust clouds of foam rose up in my snifter which left behind substantial lacing as I began to drink. A playful hop bite on the front end is subdued and delicate. I taste wheat and malt. This ale had a very clean and crisp mouthfeel with a dry finish. After some sips, I picked up some chocolate whiffs on the nose as the beer warmed. Happy and highly enjoyable.

Pours a dark reddish copper color with a huge off-white head. The nose is both bready and hoppy. The body is much lighter than expected. The flavor is also flatter than the nose would indicate. There is a hoppy semi-dry finish but there isn't much of a bitter punch.

On tap at Bonds Tavern in West Orange. Pours a ruddy, amber hue with moderate frothing. Mild aroma replete with hints of caramel and molasses. Similar overall flavor profile. Not bad.

16.9 oz bottle, bottled on 12-13, had this beer on 12-24. Super fresh as always when it comes to Maine! Fresh, hoppy amber. I could drink this all day.
