Notes / Commercial Description:
Our take on an American amber ale. Complex malt bill delivers notes of dark raisin, chocolate and biscuit. Copious additions of American hops yield notes of pine and citrus.

Bottle dated 05/17/16

Pours cloudy hazy dark amber orange red-brown with a dense creamy khaki colored foam head. Smells like fragrant peach, apricots, nectarine, plum, dried fig and cherry, some raisin, dark caramel, chocolate, medium roast coffee, candied orange and grapefruit citrus, toasty biscuity malty grain, molasses, brown sugar, toffee, with fresh pine and dank floral earthy grass. Tastes slightly bitter, sweet, malty, and spicy with some fresh stone fruits, pithy citrus, dried dark fruit, malty molasses, caramel, brown sugar, toasty biscuit, toffee, chocolate, woody coffee, with some dank fruity earthy floral pine and grass. Feels medium bodied, dense and creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a real nice and unique amber ale.

This robust looking 7.2% amber pours a slightly opaque dark brown, slightly russet color with medium tan foamy head. The smell is a big hoppy punch to the nose with a predominant scent of pine. It smells a lot like an IPA. The flavor is an interesting cross between a traditional amber and an IPA. There are notes of pine, grapefruit, and some pepper from the hops with slightly more subdued traditional amber malt flavors of brown bread, caramel, and a little earthiness. The body is medium, but slightly toward the high end of that. It’s a pretty interesting beer and really well balanced. I have never tried a true cross between these two styles before. I think it does a nice job of taking the best from each style and I give it props for having a nice body with a good alcohol content also. I don’t think blending with an amber gives it that much of an advantage over some of the best well balanced IPAs, but still a delicious, really interesting beer to try.

Poured from bottle to glass; Another great beer from Maine Brewing! Hazy Amber color with a one finger head that stays with the beer; moderate carbonation. Modest nose of hops, fruits and chocolate. Very smooth on the palate with lingering note of hops, and faint note of raisin/chocolate on the back.
Put a smile on your face and enjoy!
