Notes: Our American-style stout aged on organic vanilla beans. Intense notes of coffee and dark chocolate lead way to subtle notes of natural vanilla. Flaked oats generate a silky mouthfeel.

Pours black with soft, tan head.

Smell is roasty with notes of coffee, coffee grounds, vanilla and a hint of golden syrup.

Taste is soft and roasty with big coffee notes and backing by chocolate, vanilla, a soft bitterness and a hint of leather.

Mouthfeel is medium soft and well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice stout, well made with some depth.

Excellent stout, heavy vanilla smell though the vanilla takes a backseat in a way taste wise. I got more coffee than vanilla. Still, a great beer and worth seeking out.

Pours nearly jet black except for a tinge of ruby when held right up to the light,a creamy beige head atop that left a broken ring of lace behind.Vanilla and more vanilla in the nose, some dark roast comes into play as well as some chocolate but the vanilla wins out. It's roasted on the palate but I love the vanilla warming flavors,it's not overly sweet with a nice somewhat drying earthy finish. This beer is underrated in my opinion,it's warming with a nice vanilla flavor that isn't overly done,a great beer.

Great American Stout. Maine Beer Company is so solid through each beer. Quality company. look is a black/tan tint. the smell of roasted coffee and cocoa. taste is of roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, and oats. It is a very light and drinkable compared to an English/ irish stout. Overall it is a very delicious and very drinkable American stout. cheers

Super dark with a rich creamy head. Smell is roasted malt, char, chocolate, and vanilla. The taste is sweet and tangy with char, chocolate and vanilla. Thick silky mouthfeel. Great beer.

Bottle pour at the bottle share hosted by Adam Fine Wine & Liquor held at Sophie’s Place in Redondo Beach, CA.

Bottled 5/3/12.

Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, and vanilla beans. Taste is much the same with a medium amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with nice aromas and flavors that make it tasty and easy to drink.

Poured a dark brown, almost black with a quarter inch dark tan head that settled quickly to a cap and left little lacing. Smells of roasted coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and a slight burnt quality. Tastes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, roasted malts, hint of tobacco, char and vanilla. A lot less vanilla than I expected seeing as it is "aged on natural vanilla beans." Light bodied, minimal carbonation, smooth mouth feel although it is on the watery side.

A dark color sits below a decent lacing that once was a layer of froth, this beer fills your nose and then your palette with rich tastes leaving a drying raw dark chocolate taste behind. The after taste in itself is worth the drive but then again I have had the pleasure of drinking this beer at the Maine Beer Company, worthy.

Split a bottle during a homebrew session.

Pours a opaque ink black. Had a nice sandy head that left a tad of webbing.

Smell was wonderful, huge vanilla and molasses notes plenty of coco and espresso as well.

A very roasty flavor. More coffee than chocolate. Pretty big flavors considering ABV. Vanilla and honey notes are more subdued than in the smell.

Somewhat silky but not like a real oatmeal stout, very rich and slick.

Great stout, probably a bit overpriced but its top shelf stuff. Great nose.

On tap at the Beer Table, Brooklyn, NY.
Poured into 8oz nonic.
Pours a deep brown almost black color. Smells of coffee and roasted malts.
Taste is similar...adding a bit of vanilla and spice. Nice carbonation and smooth.
This is a very tastey and pleasant beer, but its more like a porter than a stout.
I just wish it was served in a bigger glass.

A - Pours a dark black-brown with a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lace.

S - Aroma is a mix of roasted chocolate malts with vanilla, cocoa, and coffee.

T - Starts off with a mix of roasted dark and chocolate with some sweet vanilla and cocoa. Through the middle, some coffee comes through alongside some more roasted and lightly burnt flavors. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate and coffee with some vanilla.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, roasted, and lightly sweet finish.

D - Very drinkable. Really nicely balanced American Stout. The vanilla adds a nice complexity to the beer.
