A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick consistency. There was a half inch of foamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of coffee, vanilla, and malt.

T: Tasted of roasted malt, a hint of vanilla in the finish, coffee, and a little bit of chocolate. Slightly more subtle than some stouts, but still a balanced and complex flavor.

M: A decent amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Yet another solidly made beer from Maine Beer Company. Well made and drinkable.

Bottled 07.15.15, Drank 09.17.14. Poured from bottle into a 12oz tulip glass.

A: Dark opaque body, no light passes through, not even at the edges. Soapy mocha head, one and a half fingers, fades to a extremely thing cap with a minor ring. No visible carbonation. It looks phenomenal sitting in the glass.

S: Another high point for the beer, smells of rich coffee, sweet chocolate, caramel, and smokey roasted malts. Exactly what a proper stout should smell like.

T: And then the tires seem to fall off the wagon. The taste just can't match its own powerful aromas, or the rich, decadent appearance. Very mild, yet balanced. Hints of vanilla behind the main flavors of weak coffee and tame chocolate. Strong coffee aftertaste however.

M: Fairly thin body for a stout. Very carbonated in the mouth, leaving a lasting effect after swallowing. Finishes clean, no trace of alcohol.

O: I was pretty excited to try this beer. Besides the great reputation of MBC, it just looked and smelled the part of a top notch stout. I mean, just smelling this thing was enough to put me in a good mood. Sadly, the taste and mouthfeel were simply not up to par. It is by no means a bad beer, its actually quite good... but the taste letdown is just too much. Well, that and the $7 price tag for a 16oz bottle, but thats another story.
