Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

Lunch is a special whale that has been spotted off the Maine coast since 1982. She has what looks like a bite taken out of her fin, which adds to her unique character. We dedicate this beer to her determination and persistence.

Keep on swimming!

Growler poured into a tulip

A- pours a clear bright golden color with an amber hue, small foamy white head reduced to a ring around the edge

S- citrus and pine dominant aroma with undertones of bready malt. Also some
Notes of lemongrass and mint

T- clean and citrusy up front with notes of orange zest and pine needle, followed by some tropical notes of mango & melon. Clean underlying toasted malt provide a nice backbone, while allowing the citrusy hops to take center stage.

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a clean, dry & crisp finish

O- very good IPA with high drinkability

Copper pour, full on 1 inch of head. Good retention, average lacing. Aroma was hoppy, not the most pungent, some amarillo I'd guess.

Taste, real clean hop edge, not a ton of bitterness, malt is enough to be supportive but not distracting the spotlight. I liked the apricot/peach edge on this one as well. Tasty. There's a bunch of other fruits floating around in the mouthfeel too.

A very good pale ale.

IPA's do not get much better. It's hoppy, but at the description indicates, the hint of malt sweetness bring a superb balance to the beer. Absolutely delicious
