A- Light amber body with a huge, creamy white head. Retention is pretty much too good, I am waiting to drink it. Nice thick lace webs down the glass.

S- Aroma has a very nice hop presence. Hops have a nice tropical fruit feel, citrus, pine and some floral.

T- Nice hops once again. A good deal of pine and floral but the citrus and fruit still come through. Malt lends some sweetness.

MF- Creamy lighter-end body with a smooth feel to it. Finish is pretty bitter.

Kind of feels like a mix of West and East coast, bringing a nice balance. Somehow I get a cotton candy feel out of it but it really is a nice beer. Reminds me of the late Uber Sun.

Bottle dated 1/14/14 in glass.

Pleasant golden color with lacing. Bright pine and floral citrus scents. Mildly bready backbone with heavy citrus flavors and pine. The finish is long and dry with bitter grapefruit. Nicely balanced with excellent mouthfeel. Finely crafted IPA and very easy to drink. I would never turn one down but the bitter finish keeps this out of circle of my favorite IPAs.

Poured into teku glass, nice orange body, unfiltered but not too hazy, nice frothy white head after pouring aggressively with strong lacing. The head eventually fades leaving a thin white film Bottled on 2/16/16. Aroma is tropical, but definitely more malty on the taste. Pretty well balanced, but it has a finish that is slightly displeasing. Overall it's a very solid beer, but a little less than I expected.

Thanks to the Central PA crew for sending this as part of the Gang Bang BIF. This is my first time trying a Maine beer..I'm digging the simplistic labels.

A: pours a light orange with frothy white head, good retention, very nice lacing

S: aromatic hops up front, heavy on the fruits and citrus, notes of lemon, some pine. A touch of bread in the background.

T: this is a perfectly balanced IPA. Start out with bright citric fruits with some malty sweetness in the middle, and then rounds a out with a swift bitterness.

MF: medium to high carbonation, light and refreshing body

O: very nice East Coast IPA, delightful balance and good use of hops.

03/08/2016 bottling date served cold in a Stella glass.

Appearance: classic East Coast golden with a slight haze and a nice fluffy head

Nose: pine, grapefruit, bitter orange, citrus, lemony, tons of fruit

Taste: nicely bitter, fruity, citrus, grapefruit, very Pliney like, delicious and slightly dank

Overall: this is a great East Coast IPA. Heady and some of the VT IPAs are better but I'm really glad I got the chance to try this Legend. Thanks to Craig for Beering-It-Forward!

Thanks norm

Pours a murky hazy yellowed orange. Lots of nice white head. Looks pretty solid. Smells hoppy and piny. Tastes bitter and piny. There is a very weird aftertaste... Something is off with this beer... Highly carbonated, good mouthfeel. Overall... Whats wrong with this beer?

very good IPA, but not sure its worth the $$$. It has a citrus bite but not an all out assault and bitterness is on the low side. nice malt balance

A bit on the lighter side in terms of body and ample carbonation.

A: Hazy SRM 3ish with plenty of white head.
S: Lovely...like a really good pastry. The sweet malt smells like a fresh-baked mango/pineapple pastry with a touch of citrusy hops. Smells delicious; full but still delicate.
T: Nice light pastry malt-forward start with hop bitterness throughout. The pastry gives way to more tropical fruit and hops.
M: Medium fullness for a pale; a little scrapey but still very drinkable.
O: If only the flavor matched the nose profile a little more...more delicate with less alphas...this might be a perfect beer. Wonderful odors for days. Best Maine I've had so far after II and Peepers.

A wonderful pour!
Frothy sculptured head that laced the walls of my glass.
A subdued golden straw colored libation with a fruity prominent nose.
Whafts of citrus, hops eminated from this beer.

Flavor is glorious. Hops bitternets comingled with lemon zest and green apples with just a hind of malt underpinning-- almost like some sort of binder tying the flavor boquet together.

This beer produces a long zesty finish with a vibrancy that brings life to the palate-- this beer doesn't just complete its show and fade away-- rather it take a bow and comes back for an encore.

The mouthfeel goes along with the finish and flavor--.

Overall this is an IPA that I would make a specific request for. I would (and will) seek it out-- I'm going to have to keep some in the cellar to insure I've got year 'round stock.

Another magnificant creation by Maine Beer Company.

Poured from pint bottle into a pint glass. Pours a light copper color with a white half finger head, with good lacing ten minutes after the pour. Smells of malt, sugar, Hops, and citrus (mostly grapefruit). Tastes just as it smells, with first impression being the malt, then an earthy sugary taste, lastly the citrus lingers as you swallow. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, with moderate carbonation (a little less than I usually like in IPAs). Overall a good IPA but not one I'd go out of my way to get, I much prefer the King Titus porter or dinner.

The four-inch, frothy white head competes for space within the Dogfish Head fisheye pint glass. The hazed, honey-amber (SRM 8) beer with occasional carbonation eventually dominates as the head slowly, slow as in continental drift, turns rocky as it gives up sticky patches of lace.

Strong pineapple up front yields to fresh pine and grapefruit. Mandarin orange and floral notes come out later.

Lunch is far less intense in flavor profile than the nose would suggest. However, mild grapefruit and light caramel combine as bitterness builds into a lengthy finish. Sweetness does come out much later with fresh orange flavors.

Well carbonated with a medium body and soft woolly texture. Alcohol is as expected in this quite dry beer.

This is a great beer to enjoy while unwinding, but would go equally well with an afternoon ballgame.

Great color tones, looks enticing. The smell and taste are just average to me. I was expecting more because Maine Beer Co makes great beers. Perhaps my expectations were just too high

On tap at The Great Lost Bear.

Pillowy white head w/ nice lacing as I sip this one down. Feint citrus nose(not sure what to expect here). The taste pops with lemon peel citrus. Very crisp with a clean finish. Refreshing after a spicy dinner, but not Dinner...

On tap at the Cask and Vine in Derry, New Hampshire. I was quite pleased to see this on the menu as I have been wanting to try it for years. Bright yellow-orange color, slightly hazy, good head. Aroma is quite hoppy, tropical and dare I say West Coast. Flavor was bitter, tropical, hoppy and again possibly West Coast. Probably one of the best IPA's from the east coast I've ever had, wish I could have brought home bottles.

A - pours a pale golden yellow. 3 fingers Pillowy pearly white foam with lots of thick lacing sticking to the glass.

S - completely hop dominated. Lots of citrus, tropical fruit and floral notes. Fleshy orange pulp and sugar sprinkled grapefruit rind. Hints of pineapple and white pepper, maybe a touch of vanilla cake batter.

T - lightly doughy and cake like malt profile. Green leafy floral notes come in quickly followed by sweet and bitter citric notes. Flavors of bitter orange peel and sweet pineapple coat the pallet. Finish is lingers for quite some time.

M - light bodied closing in on medium. High carbonation.

O - great take on an IPA. This would be perfect for summertime

13 day old bottle into a FFF Teku-

Appearance- Really pretty, hazy, golden orange with a big, fluffy white head that leaves nice lacing around the glass.

Smell- Huge grapefruit, pine, and orange zest. Totally hop forward, with no real detectable malt presence.

Taste- Similar to the nose, tons of bitter grapefruit and orange. As it warms up I get a bit more sweetness and some peach flavors. Finishes with a big blast of pine

Mouthfeel- Carbonation is light, but present. Has a bit of a creamy feel to it, and a super dry finish.

Overall- I'm digging it, and glad I was able to get a super fresh bottle. I'll for sure be picking up another bottle next time it comes around.

Thanks to Joe for sharing! Quick review from notes.
Bottled on 9.24.13, less than 2 weeks old!

Brilliant golden orange, sharp clarity with rapidly rising carb trails. Compact head of white foam that leaves a halo of sticky lace in the glass. The foam has a stiff meringue texture to it, and has lasting staying power.

Citrus aromas dominate, with an undercurrent of pungent green hops. Definitely has a west coast vibe going on already.

Orange, grapefruit, citrus peel, earthy bitter greens. Very hoppy with a firm bitterness that lingers for awhile. The bitter citrus peel is the key flavor, and tapers off towards the end. Medium bodied with a light manageable feel. Overall it's a nice all around IPA, though it seems a little similar to others.

It isn't my favorite Maine beer, but damn is it good. I will take Another One over Lunch but you really can't go wrong with the pale ale family of beers from this brewery.

Lot #05.18.11

Pours a golden amber color with a wicked huge fluffy head, fades at a very slow rate (probably my biggest complaint on the looks because it takes forever and held me up from drinking it), leaves a good deal of patchy lacing.

Smell is terrific for an IPA, the nose is hugely pine and grapefruit with the edge going to the pine, citrus makes a good presence, eventually the hop front melds with a caramel malt backing as part of the "afternose".

Taste is definitely on the hoppy side, starts out with a resiny hop bitterness that calls on the pine, the citrus and grapefruit that was part of the nose is not as heavily prevalent in the taste, for as much head that was produced the carbonation seems rather low or soft (maybe the excessive head took all the carbonation away), eventually the caramel malt backing takes hold before leaving an aftertaste of bitterness.

Another good beer from MBC, they have yet to disappoint me.

A - Pours a dark amber orange, with about 3 fingers of white, pinkish head. The head lasts a while, before slowly dying away. There's substantial lacing along the edge of the glass.

S - Delicious smell, lots of tropical fruits and some piney resin. Quite a smell, one that I haven't had in a while on this coast.

T - The taste is very similar to the smell in content, but it's a bit weaker than the smell. Lots of fruity hoppiness, but there's a bit of malt to balance it out in the finish.

M - Solid mouthfeel. The finish is good, and the carbonation is very pleasing.

Overall, this is another wonderful beer from Maine Beer Co. I'm a huge Zoe fan, and I now consider myself quite the Lunch fan!

A: Beautiful golden bronze like in color with minimal head. Super clear until the final pour from the bottle which is cloudy.

S: Strong notes of grapefruit and some pine. Tropical notes were also present, but not overbearing.

T: Upon first sip, bitterness is detected from the hops. There is a tropical citrus base that can be tasted mid sip. Has a dry finish that seems to dull the tropical character quite a bit.

M: Hops prickly to the tongue, medium-high carbonation. Hops are fairly bitter with a tad bit of stickiness that is also present. A tad bit watery mouthfeel as well.

O: Glad that I finally tracked down a bottle of the elusive "Lunch"!! Solid IPA, but nothing to write home about. Not sure if it meets the hype.

Bottle dated 6/25/12 and enjoyed on 7/6/12. Can you say FRESH LUNCH. Thanks Mom. Served in a tulip.

Pour: Completely hazy amber orange. Two and half fingers of sticky off white head. Lots of lacing.

Smell: Grapefruit explosion. Some orange in there too. Almost smells like a citrus juice mashup.

Taste: Oranges and pine explode forth. Super juicy flavors. Perfect balance of caramelly maltiness, but very mild. Slight peppery finish, but the orange bitterness is what lingers.

Mouthfeel: Very juicy and smooth. Not super chuggable because of how juiciness of the body, but refreshing and rewarding for sure.

Overall: Once I had this, it took over Sculpin for my favorite single IPA. Tied with Harlan from HF. Need to have Blind Pig again to make a decision.

Bottled 6/25/12

A: Dark orangish-yellow. Super hazy. Don't think I've ever seen a IPA this cloudy before, you can't even see thru it. Bubbly off white head.

S: Lots of ripe grapefruit and some tropical fruits. Peaches and cream?

T: Starts off with a good balance of malts and hops. Fruity and ripe grapefruit hops and some carmel malt sweetness. Gets more bitter in the backend, more citrus hops. Think the hops have faded a bit on this unfortunately. They are there, just a bit muted on the finish I believe.

M: Medium body, average carbonation. Feels really slick and smooth.

O: Great drinkability. Smooth and balanced. Top notch IPA, wish I could try it fresh since this was bottled 2 months ago, but really glad I got to try this.
