Pours a hazy golden. It's not hazy IPA levels of haze but it a significant amount of chill haze. It is a lot darker or richer golden than most Kolschs I have seen. I have a lot to say about how it looks! Some honeysuckle and lemon on the nose, a veritable Mrs. Meyers of an aroma! There's lemon, the middle of a hearth sourdough bread, a touch of honeysuckle. It's an interesting chewy beer and the carb is a bit on the low side. If I am rating this to style, I would say that it is missing the mark a little. That would be contra to the fact that I am actually enjoying this Spring.

6/7/26 - (Home) (Chicago. Illinois) Bottle Notes: Purchased a single 16.9 oz bottled 3/20/26 @ 11:10:18 AM at store temperature on 4/18/26 at Beer on the Wall Park Ridge for $9.12 with tax. Refrigerated at home until opening this morning. 5.0% ABV Kolsch Style Ale. Drink This Beer Fresh within 90 days of the stamped born on date. Freeport, Maine.

Native to Maine woodlands, Azure Bluets appear where they are least expected. To many, they are a welcome first sign of spring, appearing in early April as the snow begins to melt. They pepper the ground in tufts of tiny stars with pale blue petals and a yellow center. This Kolsch style ale recipe stemmed from the Black Barn Program, and has since grown to become a perennial favorite.

Appearance: Poured about a quarter of the 16.9 oz bottle into a small flute near Stange type glass, yielding a golden yellow unfiltered straw base, creamy egg white head and sustained covering over the base leaving clumpy lacing. Faint carbonation after the pour. 4.0

Aroma: Medium plus cracker and pepper then salt. Mild to medium strength, though bumping score 0.25 due to my cold or whatever I'm dealing with. 4.0

Taste: Consistent with the aroma, though a sweeter bread malt vs. the cracker aroma notes. Mild but perhaps a bit higher if I was at 100%, another 0.25 score bump. 3.75

Mouthfeel: Sustained prickly carbonation more felt than scene. Drinks light and easy. A bit dry, leans sweet but enough bitterness to keep balanced. Warm bread from the oven the finish. 3.75

Overall: Probably not the fairest test today, as my palate and nose are not well suited for a proper beer review, but the show must go on, and I am enjoying what I can gather and glad there some remains to enjoy in the bottle. Not a good value at near $10 packaged, but glad I tried, and will look for their Spring IPA next year to complete the Maine Spring experience. 3.75

Bottle pour at River Road Tavern after work.
Mostly clear deep gold color with a decent sized white head that persists. Crisp clean bready crackery maltiness with bits of earth and floral and fruitiness to counter. Nice brew.

L-One and a half fingered ale with a golden hued and subtly unfiltered/hazy body. Nice tiny carbonation that fizzes thoughout. Head is frothy and pillowy.
S-Sweet, bready, andpeppery malt with lemon grass up front. Herbal tea-like greenish notes. Subtle brett funkiness towards the back. Floral bloom at the back end as well.
T- Subtly sweet and dank pilsner malt up front, with notes of lemon grass to follow. Pleasant herbal earthiness is there, with cracked peppercorn biggybacking behind. A nice floral hue is found throughout with a nice heap of cracker.
F- Decently crisp and light to medium bodied mouthfeel.
O- Not surprised that this is an incredibly tasty and well crafted Kolsch. Original high level complexity for a style like this, while also being incredibly drinkable. This could be the best American made Kolsch I've ever had.... Would absolutely have a again, and again, and again. Cheers!

From a 1 pint 0.9 fl oz (500 ml) bottle, packaged 3/20/26. Poured into a Reissdorf-branded stang.

It has a light golden color, a very slight haze, and a white head. Good head retention. Quite a bit of lacing in rings and sheets remain during the drinkdown.

Grassy, floral notes on the nose, a bit of lemon also.

Grassy and floral flavors blend with a light lemon touch and some crackery malts. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

Light body, making this almost effortless to drink. Good level of carbonation helps to clean the palate.

Delicious take on a Kolsch.

Pours a pale golden color, very slightly hazy, and if I hadn't been paying attention that massive white head would have been all over the countertop. The foam lasts several minutes before falling to a hefty, rocky cap with nice cling to the glass.

It smells of sweet, biscuity malts with citrus and floral notes with a little white wine. Straightforward and saying "drink me".

It's very good. Equally straightforward in flavor. Nicely sweet maltiness - kinda biscuit and cracker hybrid. There's a pleasant level of lemon and I get a tad bit of orange. There's a floral note that seems almost like rosewater. I do get the white wine grape taste that I enjoy with this style. There's a mild spice in the aftertaste - I'm leaning toward it being coriander but it's hard to say for sure. Perfect level of bitterness. Way late there's just a bit of black pepper.

Feel is light and refreshing. Bit of a tingle. It's not overly dry.

This is a tasty brew. Very well-made and pretty spot on for the style. I'd drink a bunch of these - no doubt. I've not had a bad beer from Maine Brewing. The hard part is finding them fresh so I totally lucked out in that regard. Good stuff

From a 500ml bottle poured into a Pilsner Pokal.
An opaque straw colored pour with a thick head that settles into a collar that produces some random lacing.
The toasted Pilsner 2-row and extensive malt grain profile has a bright aspect and bready quality, along with a caramel flavor with grassy notes.
The Hallertauer and Cashmere hops meld well together and provide pleasant bitterness and add to the flavor.
Supple white pepper hints, citrus and the honey add some complexity.
Light to medium bodied mouthfeel.
An excellent Kolsch.

Purchased cold at a store 2-days ago and kept cold until served. Poured from a 1pint, .9oz bottle dated 20.MAR.26 to a Stang-like can glass.
A super-white, super-thick fine white large head forms. This eventually settles to a manageable ¼”/6mm, but retention at that level is strong. The straw body is about SRM 2-3. Continuous nucleation bubbles are visible throughout the session. Lacing is also pretty strong with story rings at every level, spaced equally apart.
The smell is tangy, like fermented straw.
The taste is crisp with bread-yeast, cracker. It's a battle of a mulit-malt bill vs. noble hops. And it works.
The light mouthfeel is enhanced with a hop oil finish. Carbonation is medium-strong and appropriate..
An excellent Kolsch.

Spring is pale straw in color with a light haze. Random carbonation forms rapid, fine bubbles that build two and a half inches of white mousse above. The head gradually retreats over ten minutes, leaving behind a coating of Belgian lace on a Steigel stange.

The aroma opens with dusty grain and coriander. Floral notes and light lemon come into play shortly after the initial perception.

Light bitterness is almost neutralized by sweetness. Delicate sourdough leads to a long, mild finish that brings back the coriander.

This one has a medium to full body and a soft, cushy texture, similar to neoprene. Light alcohol and soft carbonation accentuate the dry finish.

This is a relaxed beer which I enjoyed during a cool, overcast, late spring afternoon. Paired with a mild, earthy cheese (Casatica di Bufal) which is similar to a cross between Havarti and Brie. The cheese mitigates light astringency from the beer, while the beer amplifies the creaminess of the cheese.

Pours golden with a light, foamy head. Very bubbly. On the nose getting hints of honey & florals. Taste-wise it's relatively sweet, hitting on honey, breadiness, & some grassy notes. Super smooth, great spring / summer beer.

An easy, steady pour produced a finger of soapy white foam that slowly shrunk to a creamy lasting cap and ring. Clear deep golden-straw body, a bit dark.

A blend of white grape juice, dry white wine and lemon juice greets the nose with biscuit and toasted bready malt plus floral hops following closely.

Semi-sweet with average bitterness, the malt flavors are first with a balance of sweet grape and dry wine 2nd. Hop flavor builds during the semi-dry finish, hops linger as the lemon/wine fades.

Medium bodied with ample carbonation, well balanced and quaffable. True to style, great for warmer weather.
