Notes: Just after opening our brewery, working long nights, weekends, and still maintaining our day jobs, my brother Daniel (the brewer) had twins. Cheers to his courage and dedication to making better beer.

Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Pours very light straw. A little cloudy. Fine bubble egg shell head. Sticky laces. The smell bursts with citrus notes: grapefruit, mangos, lemon peel, and pineapple. The taste follows. This is a great beer for citrus-heads. Very light malts backbone and distinctive yeast character. Very smooth, crisp, and light body.

This is a great beer - all around. A lot of the citrus notes of Zombie Dust are similar and the light malt to hop ratio of Pliney is present.

I think this is excellent and is underrated.

Because every place around me is usually sold out of Lunch by the time i get there, i've been able to try the other varieties of Maine Beer Co frequently. MO is probably my favorite of the bunch that i can find regularly. I do enjoy Weez and Peeper too. Mo is slightly bitter but smooth. Very refreshing and looks fuckin tasty. I drink beers like these too fast.

Maine Beer Company is climbing the ranks as one of the better breweries in New England. They have many top notch offerings. MO is one of their Pale Ales.

It pours a very light yellow color with lots of fluffy white head. Very carbonated. Aroma has some citrus, a little pine, and some bready malt. Not overpowering though. Taste is tropical, citrus, and a touch of pine. Just enough malt for great balance. Very smooth with very little bitterness. Very light body making it go down like your favorite summer brew.

MO is a great pale ale. I actually think MO is a better pale ale than Lunch is an IPA. Not that I don't like Lunch, but I don't think it stands up to the best IPA's in New England, but I think MO does compare to the best pale ales. It's just a great beer.

A - Big, white, pillowy head. Coppery golden beer. Thick, lingering ring remains after several minutes.
S - Piney, lemony and tropical.
T - Sophisticated with red fruits, caramel malts, grassy and peppery notes as well as mango and pineapple.
M - Silky with aggressive carbonation.
O - Excellent and balanced. Very drinkable. Not life altering, but very enjoyable.

500mL bottled 5/8/18 (40 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 6% ABV. The beer pours almost completely bright with a little chill haze. The color is straw yellow with a hint of orange and sticky, nearly white head. The head recedes to a fat island and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is mild with lemon and floral notes. The taste follows the nose with lemon and floral hoppy notes laid over a soft pilsner malt base. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. The bitterness is not heavy handed and shows up about one-third of the way through the sip. Overall, very good.

A: A slightly hazy, medium golden colored beer. This pours with two fingers of rocky/creamy off-white foam with a persistent head that leaves sticky, ropes of lacing on the glass.

S: A medium-strong pineapple, grapefruit and lemon, citrus hops aroma along with a medium grassy character from dry hop additions. Mild ale esters a light malt character biscuits.

T: A strong grapefruit hops flavor with a very strong hops bitterness. There isn't much malt backing this up just a slight sweetness with a light bready and slight caramel quality to it. The balance is very bitter and the finish is quite dry. The aftertaste is of hops bitterness and flavors of grapefruit and a touch a pith.

M: A medium bodied beer with a moderately-strong level of carbonation and a medium amount of creaminess.

O: An outstanding American Pale that is almost nothing but a showcase for strong citrus hops aromas and flavors with a very enjoyable grapefruit character.

A- cloudy golden hue. Big frothy ivory head (creamy like meringue). Very light lacing.

S- earthy, lightly floral, herbaceous, very piney and resinous.

T- some spice, fairly tart. Moderately bitter. Surprisingly, given the pine and resin nose, not much of that came through in the taste.

M- medium, crisp.

O- a solid beer. Good. Slightly disappointed as I'd never had a Maine Beer Co. beer and was really looking forward to it, given their reputation. I wouldn't argue with anyone who thinks it's great, but not worth having again, for me.

Cheers!

good clean pale ale with a nice finish. had out of the bottle. about a month old. had a good head and the look was a light golden, relatively clear. I would drink this again but it did feel like many of the solid pale ales I have had in the area.

It's interesting to see some comparisons to this being a lower-grade option for Heady. I wouldn't quite call it that, but I will say that when MBC sets out to make a beer, they make a solid, well-rounded beer. Delightful and imminently drinkable every step of the way.

The beer fits its own description every step of the way. The body has a nice head and a clear, crisp texture. The smell is of light, sweet fruit - pineapple, mango, apricot, and passionfruit - with a mellow but firm piney bitterness. The taste is certainly on the dry side, especially in the finish, but there is a good balance here which tempers the bitter hops, injects a light, malty feeling of restraint, and makes this an easy beer to put down. Seems lighter than it is, and is certainly worthy of your time, though I'm always slightly disappointed when a beer is so much more dry and less flavorful than its aroma suggests.

Pours a golden amber color, relatively clear, with a thin cap of foam.

Smells very floral, with some pine and herbal notes. The malt is very, very clean, allowing the very subtle nuances of the hops to be picked out. Citrus is there, but I'm picking out a lot more of those very soft hop tones that are normally buried beneath heavier malt aromas. Given that the malt is all but nonpresent, you can really get the full hop experience.

My first impression is that the flavor is very good, but like Peeper, is unexpectedly light bodied. Not quite as airy as Peeper, but definitely lighter than what I normally expect from an american pale, and certainly a 6%er. The malt is incredibly clean and dry, offering very little to get in the way of the hop experience. For such a mellow beer, the depth of the hops is remarkable. Some juicy citric flavors, but it finishes off dry, foresty and floral. Maybe a little light on the tongue for mid-october, but there's no denying that these guys know what they're doing.

These guys certainly know how to brew. Northern New England is really experiencing a brewing renaissance after decades of buttery ringwood sameness. Two thumbs up.

500ml bottle poured into a Unibroue Tulip glass

A: This has the most beautiful, fluffy, white head that just won't let up. Had to stop my (careful) pour about 2/3 of the way into the glass because the head had risen up to the top. After drinking a bit, it subsided to about a finger to a finger and a half of soft white foam. The glass above it not only laced with foam, but I'd call it caked with foam.

S: I'd say equal parts piney and floral notes.

T: Definitely more floral in the taste, a little bit of bitterness towards the end but not a harsh bitterness.

M:Slightly prickly carbonation, medium body

O: Lovely beer. Price is a bit steep though for what is ultimately a pretty simple Pale Ale.
