Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Just after opening our brewery, working long nights, weekends, and still maintaining our day jobs, my brother Daniel (the brewer) had twins. Cheers to his courage and dedication to making better beer.

500mL bottled 5/8/18 (40 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 6% ABV. The beer pours almost completely bright with a little chill haze. The color is straw yellow with a hint of orange and sticky, nearly white head. The head recedes to a fat island and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is mild with lemon and floral notes. The taste follows the nose with lemon and floral hoppy notes laid over a soft pilsner malt base. The mouthfeel is medium to thin bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. The bitterness is not heavy handed and shows up about one-third of the way through the sip. Overall, very good.

So it would be an understatement to say I'm excited to try something from Maine beer company. I'll be pouring this from a 16.9 oz. bottle into a tulip. 3 weeks on the bottled date. So as I was pouring it didn't look like a crown was going to form and then all of a sudden a very frothy and dense one finger head comes bubbling up to sit on top of a hazy golden straw colored beer. The smell is amazing. Quite a bit of floral going on in there mixing with citrus galore. Smells juicy and makes my mouth water. Here we go for the taste. And it's not quite what I expected with the citrus that the nose puts off. It has some hints on lemon, not tart at all but more like a lemon being in a tea. Other than that it brings more dry like earthy notes. Maybe some straw or wheat, and definitely some nice floral. It makes for a crisp and refreshing pale ale. Overall, I'm glad I got to try it and it just makes for a very clean brew.

Nice light color. Smooth supper on a sunny day. Tastes like you need at least 1 more.

Just a really solid hoppy pale ale. Citrus, piney hops, crisp caramel malts. Bitter clean finish with a lingering resin feel. Clean and classic, all-around really good!

First drank this outside on a sunny spring day. Perhaps it was the weather, but I don't think I've ever enjoyed a pale ale quite as much as this one. It just hits ever note with perfection.

Decanted from a 16.9 oz (500 ml) bottle into a conical pint glass; bottled on 04/03/2018.
A: Pours a minimally hazy, rich, golden yellow with exuberant head formation leaving a greater than one inch head with really excellent retention and foamy lacing.
S: Fruity aroma with lemon, pine, and sweet maltiness.
T: Semidry. Citrus, particularly lemon and pine. Bitterness light like other MBC offerings, enough to leave a very clean, refreshing finish.
M: Light bodied with strongly persistent effervescence.
O: The light bodied AAPA very suitable for summer consumption. Light and refreshing.
