Notes / Commercial Description:
Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Look: Hazy straw orange. Thick eggshell head. Very active.

Nose: Citrus hops and a mild cracker malt. Very subdued.

Taste: Mild grapefruit with hits of floral hops. A light cracker malt slowly fades in with a spicy bitter hop note that flashes quickly then fades to mild malt with hints of passion fruit.

Feel: Light-medium bodied. The bitterness dances on the palate with a bone dry finish.

Overall: A middle of the road pale ale. Everything is present in very mild ratios. I would of loved to see either the malt or hops present just a bit more to make something pop. Mild is the key word here.

Bottled 8/31/16; consumed 10/13/16.

A: Poured from the bottle into a Duvel tulip. Body is slightly hazy apricot-yellow that's more bright golden when backlit. Big, fluffy 2-finger head of whitish foam on top. Some lace.

S: Nice nose for an APA - juicy citrus over bread doughy malt. Not terribly strong, but pleasant.

T: Juicy - but not over-the-top juicy like a modern NE IPA - citrus (a touch of ruby red grapefruit), with some tropical fruit. Nicely balanced, with a good foundation of bready malt. Hint of pine, then some lemony bitterness near the finish makes it feel pretty clean. Balance is the word that keeps coming to mind.

M: Good creaminess , with a soft, supple feel on the palate. In some ways, the best part of this beer, as it makes it drink even more easily.

O: Excellent APA. If I could get this at a reasonable price, and fresh, I'd buy it all the time.

Bottle to snifter.

LOOK: juicy muted yellow color, small but lasting white head.
AROMA: lots of tropical fruit and citric acid.
TASTE: fruit dominates with that's "mosaic" like bite. Not sure if Mosaic hops are used here, but after tasting I thought that's what the MO was for, but i see now it is for Madeline & Oliver.
FEEL: dry, above avg carbonation. Medium to Light body.

Another well crafted hoppy beer from Maine.

Clean and flavourful. Good fruit and citrus notes. Very drinkable. Not overly bitter. Balanced and enjoyable throughout with enough malt to keep it going. Good stuff.

Pours cloudy hazy amber orange with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like pineapple, sweet passionfruit, guava, mango, zesty lemon, orange pith, grapefruit rind, mild caramelized crackery bready grain, with dank floral earthy herbal grass and pine. Tastes like passionfruit, guava, pineapple, mango, some caramelized crackery bready malt, zesty lemon, orange pith, grapefruit rind, with dank floral earthy herbal grass and resinous pine. Feels medium bodied, soft and creamy with moderate low carbonation. Overall a really nice pale ale.

Gold in color with excellent clarity. There's an inch of creamy off white head on top. I'm getting some excellent floral hop notes in the aroma. The taste is a well balanced pale ale with floral hops and crackery light malt. The mouth is dangerously smooth and quaffable.

My first Maine Brew co beer.
This pours clearer than I was led to believe it should pour--it looks "normal," although it's lively and full of effervescence. It smacks of juicy hops, like a freshly squeezed orange. Smells wonderful. Crisp, drying, not super bitter but just enough. This was delicious.

On-tap, snifter.

Served a lightly hazy dark golden color with a thick, very fluffy, and dense off-white head that collapsed into a greasy and thick film. Tons of sticky, rocky, lace was left down the glass. Simcoe is easily noticeable on the nose with hints of onion and cat urine mixed with ambiguous citrus and a leafy herbal quality. The flavor follows suit with a herbal and fruity hop profile with just a hint of mint and chive. The malt backbone is crisp but with a subtle sweetness and tastes of light bread crust and a touch of honey. Leafy and green hop flavors finish out the flavor, and there's a decent bitterness and earthy quality to the aftertaste. Light and clean mouthfeel, drying and crisp, with bright yet soft carbonation. Smooth overall, light in flavor, with a good balance between hoppy bitterness and malt sweetness.

This is phenomenal. I think this has to be the best pale ale ever. I get district notes of grapefruit. The aroma makes me want to drink it. The taste makes me want to drink more.

On tap at Cloverleaf Tavern. This is an exciting brewery. It seems whatever they put out instantly garners top notch reviews, and it's easy to see why with a beer like this. Strong pine flavors suggest a powerful backbone of citrus and lemon zest with grapefruit nuances also apparent. Great stuff. Highly recommended.

Poured a cloudy orange color with a fizzy head over two fingers high. The nose is a very even mixture of citrus and pine with a slight malt backbone. The flavor follows suit as you get a great mixture of orange, tangerine, and pine with the malt adding a great balance to the hop bitterness. The feel is medium, very well carbonated, and finishes dry. This is great Pale Ale! Very balanced and easy to drink.

Maine Beer Company is climbing the ranks as one of the better breweries in New England. They have many top notch offerings. MO is one of their Pale Ales.

It pours a very light yellow color with lots of fluffy white head. Very carbonated. Aroma has some citrus, a little pine, and some bready malt. Not overpowering though. Taste is tropical, citrus, and a touch of pine. Just enough malt for great balance. Very smooth with very little bitterness. Very light body making it go down like your favorite summer brew.

MO is a great pale ale. I actually think MO is a better pale ale than Lunch is an IPA. Not that I don't like Lunch, but I don't think it stands up to the best IPA's in New England, but I think MO does compare to the best pale ales. It's just a great beer.

Bright, crisp and clean, this is one of the best pale ales I've had. Not overly hopped like a lot of pale ales nowadays, this beer is perfectly balanced and is ridiculously easy to drink. I want more of this one.

I recently got to try this. I was on a big Maine Beer Company kick and this was BY FAR my favorite of the 5-6 beers that I bought. It was very tasty and worth every penny. I will buy it whenever I see it on the shelf.

Pale yellow honey in color, this ale has a heavy up-front resinous chewiness, followed with a dry quick finish. Deep dank aromas, light head and thin lacing. A great summer ale, no gimmicks here. I think this APA is among the very best of its kind.

Delightfully light and refreshing. Just like I like my APAs - not too much dank or alcohol flavor, plenty refreshing. Nice white head, clean flavors, smooth finish.

Bottle dated 5/10/2016 poured into a tulip on 6/03/2016

L: Pours a beautiful deep gold/light orange in hue. Not quite opaque, but not clear by any means. Nice fluffy white head. Great lacing.

S: Definitely get the zesty citrus notes. A bit piney/earthy(?). Very nice.

T: Taste follows the nose pretty well. More citrus. More pine. A bit resinous, but not overbearing.

F: A nice medium/light bodied APA. Leaves a welcomed coat on the roof of your mouth. Not too carbonated. Dry, but not arid. Pleasant.

Overall this is a very great beer. It doesn't smack you in the face. The notes aren't super subtle. The flavors and aromas are there, present themselves, but don't demand your respect or appreciation which I like. It is what it is. A very good APA.

Bought at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. Beer pours with a clear golden appearance, with maybe some amber in some light. Thin head with patchy lacing on the sides. Nose is packed with a full, sharp smell of spiced hops, yeast, and very earthy tones. Taste follows the nose with a somewhat sweet, bready beer mixed with hops and a grapefruit flavor. Very crisp carbonation to this beer allowing for a drinkable beer that brings out the great flavors. Overall, this was a fantastic pale ale to drink.

Pours straw gold with a moderate amount of haze. Large off-white head is fairly airy but has really good retention. Plenty of sticky lacing left behind.

Big pine and lemon aroma. Light cracker malt.

Taste much like the aroma. Pine, lemon, grapefruit, and bitter orange. Just a touch of mango. A bit of malt, biscuit and cracker. Some very mild honey sweetness.

Medium body with medium carbonation. Mild bitterness but still good hop bite. Lingering citrus and a touch dry towards the end.

A - Big, white, pillowy head. Coppery golden beer. Thick, lingering ring remains after several minutes.
S - Piney, lemony and tropical.
T - Sophisticated with red fruits, caramel malts, grassy and peppery notes as well as mango and pineapple.
M - Silky with aggressive carbonation.
O - Excellent and balanced. Very drinkable. Not life altering, but very enjoyable.

I am used to drinking outstanding IPA's and this is very similar, but more dry. I can taste the artisanship, because it is not a one trick pony. It is complex in subtle ways. It gives good feel. The amount of carbonation is above average which goes well since it is so dry. The balance of everything is put together without anything overriding other feature.

I wish it could be a bit more bold in smell or flavor, but this is a top notch offering that cannot be denied. Is sum good shit.
