Because every place around me is usually sold out of Lunch by the time i get there, i've been able to try the other varieties of Maine Beer Co frequently. MO is probably my favorite of the bunch that i can find regularly. I do enjoy Weez and Peeper too. Mo is slightly bitter but smooth. Very refreshing and looks fuckin tasty. I drink beers like these too fast.

BOD 3/10/15. Pours a clear golden with just a touch of amber. World class head volume, lacing and retention.

World class rich complex nose of tropical hops (pineapple, mango), citric (orange), a touch of pepper and pine resin over very subtle biscuit.

Light body with a smooth texture coupled with a subtle oily character. Normally carbonated with a touch of effervescence in the middle and a fair burst in the finish.

The flavor profile is almost world class. It lacks just a bit of biscuit sweetness to provide more balance and enhance the complexity. It is a tropical hop forward pale ale with a pine resin background. Bitterness is mild with a subtle orange bitterness underneath. The hop flavors of the nose all make an appearance. The finish is slightly dry and a pine/rind bitterness lingers.

Bottle poured into a 2015 ucl commerative glass!

Clear golden with hazy streams of bubbles, frothy white two finger cap.

Aroma of citrus, pine

Hop taste on the back of the tongue, not bitter, lingering.

Good mouthfeel.

Nice beer but I like lunch better.

Not sure why I was surprised how good this beer is, given how much I have loved every other Maine Beer Company brew that I have tasted. Different, but almost as good as Lunch.

Brewed 052615: Hints of citrus, pine, and something else of tropical origin... This is a very solid pale ale. Very floral, and tasty. Excellent brew.

Absolutely splendid pale ale that sits right up there with lunch. Get this one fresh and it will not disappoint. Gorgeous hoppiness all around, and the malts stay super light and in the back. Hops are juicy and a hint of fresh grass. The body is just killer, so easy to finish off the 16oz bottle, light and dry. Try this one!

Solid beer with a balanced malt and hop profile. Scant aroma of pine, floral hops and citrus. Biscuity malt body with taste of cracker and toast. I dunno - I've had a three bottles of MO and none have come close to the standard set by their other beers which I've enjoyed; and nothing has come close to the score and reputation. Not sure what the deal is, but it is what it is. Time to rate it.

Another citrus IPA. Very clear pour almost like a Pilsner. Maybe a touch more bittering than the Alpine but not much. Nice aroma on the exhale. Ok mouthfeel but nothing special. Solid beer.

A: Golden orange with thin foamy white head.
S: Very piney in smell, some mango like citrus notes.
T: Tastes slight bitterness, some hoppy dryness, notes of citrus upon mid sip.
M: Medium amount of carbonation, smooth finish, prickly to tongue due to the hops.
O: Overall, a very good pale ale. I'm lucky to have tried it.

Beer Review # 1,000! Bottling date of 05/12/15

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and gold in color with a 2-finger, off-white head. Great retention before breaking down to a thin layer of suds across the top. Fine, consistent lacing is left all along the glass with great stick.

Smell - Tropical aroma with huge pineapple notes, along with lesser mango and citrus. Clean, simple, and stimulating!

Taste - Follows the nose. Clean profile with pineapple and citrus notes with light mango character. Malt profile is faint, with hints of bready sweetness. Hints of stone fruit pit. Clean, juicy citrus finish.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Silky smooth texture, going down with amazing smoothness.

Overall - Wow. I was hoping to get my hands on Heady for my 1,000th review, but unfortunately I couldn't find the time to get up to VT on my trip to CT/NY. This is a hell of a consolation prize! Clean, juicy and amazingly drinkable. One of the great pale ales out there. If there's one gripe, and it's a minor one, it could have used a touch more malt to add complexity and balance. It's a beast regardless. Get your hands on it if you can.

Bought at Trader Joes, poured into willy glass. A slightly hazy, light pinkish-orange with a small white head that sticks around and leaves some good lace. Aroma is citrusy and sweet, with just a hint of pine. Taste is really well balanced with citrus hops, vague sweet malt and a nice finishing bitterness. Mouth is just right for the style, medium-thin, nicely carbed, refreshing. Overall, this is a great pale ale.

05/12/15 bottle
Light amber, basically exactly the colour of apple juice. Maybe a finger of head to start, but settles and consolidates to the center with soapy bubbles, but a disperse creep of white remains. Decent lacing.

Nose is fresh fruit and citrus. Mango and tangerine primarily. Juicy.

Flavour is muted themes carried from the nose. Some tangerine, much more cereal grains than I smelled. Much less juicy. Maybe some blunt pine, citrus and some biscuity malts.
Finish is an earthy pine bitter.

Decent medium-small body unoffensive carbonation and a clean dry finish. A good APA, though I had hyped it up in my mind too much.

Pour is golden amber with a tight white head. Nose has hints of grain with strong hops and a bit sweet. A ton of citrus, orange peel, and light resin. Taste has more grain than the nose, clean. Still a bit sweet, lots of citrus, hints of pepper and some earthy notes, with a finish of resin and light bitterness through the finish. Fairly dry, a hint syrupy on the feel, well carbonated. Decent stuff.

I had big hopes for this beer but it's honestly pretty average. A slight sweet, cereal malt flavor. Dry, bitter hops. But I wasn't pleased with the balance, a touch sweeter than I'd like. It's not too malty, just too sweet.

Hazy dark yellow -- like a hefeweizen -- with a finger of lasting white head. Nice citrus and passion fruit on the nose. Very tropical. No hop bitterness at all in the flavor, and very little malt profile either. Almost like a watered down fruit juice. Interesting. Not necessarily good though.

Best part of this beer is the aroma - very citrus pine in a classic IPA sorta way. Taste is thin and not as satisfying, general bitterness without too much identifying citrus or pine character. Aftertaste is of hard resiny bitterness. Not my fav MBC brew

Poured from 1L bottle into ale glass on 4/5/15, bottled 2/24.

A: Pale amber, somewhat cloudy. Light frothy two-finger head, fair rention, moderate lacing.

S: Grapefruit, citrus, malt. Very pleasant.

T: Citrus up front with some bitterness, malt behind. No sense of alcohol at all.

M: Light-bodied, moderate carbonation, fairly dry finish. Well-balanced. Slight bitterness.

O: This is quite good, definitely in the league of something a Hill Farmstead would put out, if you're looking for a comparison. Buy it when you see it and drink as soon as possible.

Had this on draft into a tulip glass. Had it directly after the Half Acre Daisy Cutter, which had a nice west coast feel. This is distinctly east coast. Nice earthy piney aroma. Good body and taste. A bit on the sweet side. Nice finishing bitterness. My second MBC beer and I am impressed.

16.9oz bottle shared with friends, poured into plastic cups. Golden orange in color with a two-plus finger off-white head that settles to a cap. Not much lacing, but probably due to the "glassware". Aroma is very nice: citrus, floral, and grassy hops jump out followed by a slight malt sweetness, mango, and tropical fruit. Taste is a muted version of the aroma. Good hop bitterness, light sweetness - just faded. Not an old bottle by any stretch - less than 30 days post-bottling, well inside the recommended 90 day window. Light-medium body, crisp but thin, thin, thin texture, moderate carbonation, dry, bitter finish.

Look, aroma and taste were all solid. Feel was, as many have described, somewhat light. The finish was interesting. Dry with an almost peppery aftertaste. Overall, I thought it was just okay.

Poured a one finger off white head that disapated fairly quickly. I was pleased with the decent lacing. Unfortunately though I was disappointed with the smell. I couldn't grasp what it was exactly, but was unpleasing to me. Fourtunetly, that smell did not carry over to the taste. Which I found quite pleasing with sweet citrus flavors that finished with sutle hints of pine.

This beer is really really good. The bouquet is plentiful. Taste has a great start and better finish. My first from this brewery, won't be my last.
