Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Pours a hazy golden amber with frothy head that retains well in a persistent soapy film that leaves plenty of lacing.
The aroma is all about the hops. Citrus abounds; grapefruit, orange peel and even a hint of lemon. Pine resin and grass provide a counterpoint. Not as intense as an IPA, rather, more muted.
In the mouth there is a juicy and citrusy coating of grapefruit and mild lemon. There is a moderate sharpness to the pine hops that adds a nice bite. The finish is dry and grassy. The body is medium and with a moderate carbonation that stings slightly. However, it mellows out considerably as the drink progresses, and makes this brew truly smooth and drinkable.
This one went down quite easily. It is understated yet flavorful and very refreshing. I feel like I could drink 2-3 of these (16 oz) in one session. I continue to be impressed by Maine Beer Co.

Solid beer. Pricey down here in Massachusetts but if you can get your hands on it go for it. One of my favorite APA.

Bottled on 1/10/17....reviewed on 1/22/17....so it's very fresh! Bottle conditioned!
A slightly hazed-out white gold color. Active, with a robust, clumpy, sea-foam style white cap, lacy on the decent. Such a wonderfully, fresh and healthy look.

A very hearty, robust, herbal, tropical, pine and light citrus hop-forward aroma.the hoppy effect is very complex, herbal and zesty fruits. Nice blend of earthy, herbal tones and classic, whole-cone esque pine and citrus. Huge for a Pale Ale.

A very herbal and spicy hop taste, not IPA leval hop but damn close. Big, earthy, dry notes with subtle pine, citrus and light tropical effects, very well rounded and complex hop flavor's that push forward. The dry, earthy hop and malt taste just mingles together perfectly for a very righteous overall flavor spectrum. The balance is also nice, a crispy, dry semi-sweet malt makes it all harmonize. Very bold flavor's. Major, healthy, hoppy, fresh overall effect.

The feel is just awesome, young, fresh, crisp with a rather full, bold mouthfeel, dry and crispy finish.

This brew just screams quality! One of the most healthy and complex Pale Ale's, on the market.

Pours a hazy, pale golden color with a soapy white head that leaves little chunks of lacing.

Smells of bright, clean hops with notes of citrus and pine.

Tastes of the bright hops layered over a soft malt base. Hops lead off with notes of grapefruit, tangerine, and pine. This gives way to some berry like sweetness. Malts come next with notes of crackers and a bit of syrup to back up the fruits. A touch of citrus zest comes towards the end before a dry finish.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a tasty pale, and I am glad I tried. However, the price ($7.99 for 500 mL) keeps it from being perfect.

Poured into a stem less Reidel wine glass. Gold/yellow look nice head with good lacing. Has a pleasant citrus upfront with pine on the back end. Taste follows with nice finish. Maine Beer Co. always seem to be well constructed. Neat and clean nothing out of balance.
