Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

awesome awesome awesome beer
Look - hazy deep yellow/orange. Not translucent at all, unfiltered? Beautiful head and great lacing, smell lots o citrus and some lemons rind. Grapefruit. taste - begins big w citrus notes. Transitions nicely to pine bitterness on the back and a nice mellow long lenght w impressive aftertaste makes it hard not to take another gulp but this is a sipping beer and the price justifies it, take it long and slow and enjoy this. feel nice carbonation overall again a great great beer. Pretty old school in terms of Pale Ale flavor but done perfectly, something to buy and drink when one beer satisfies for the evening, drink in class!

Smell - Citrus, some pineapple, some floral notes, grapefruit, dank/pine
Taste - Follows the nose. Tons of grapefruit, pine, citrus, some floral, slight tropical notes.

Overall - Such a good tasting pale ale from MBC. SO easy drinking/crushable.

Enjoyed from the 22 oz bottle in a snifter. This rarity in these parts pours a chill hazed golden color with a firm head of white dissipating foam that settles to a thick ring, light layer, and very nice lacing. Nose of pineapple, pine, lemon zest, and subtle sweet malts. Flavors follow the nose with pineapple and lemon notes on the front and sides that are pounded by resinous pine and spruce notes on the middle to back overcoming any malt backbone with sticky dank hops. Coating bitter finish with a touch of seltzer water, very well carbonated. A great brew for Indian and seafood dishes. Solid, but lacking in enough malt for those who are looking for a touch of sweet to their bitter.

Glad to have tried this one, but was hoping for a more balanced brew.

Cheers

Surprising mellow IPA. Others will describe the details. I find this an exceptional east coast effort. Well balanced and very drinkable. Carbonation is a tickle that sticks to the taste buds. Introduced by another fan, and I will look for it in the future.

very light golden yellow in appearance with a nice hoppy aroma and some sweetness to back it up. taste follows with an almost delicate hop profile. certainly a hoppy pale ale, but not aggressively so. very good. would drink this often if availability allowed.

A: [4.00] A straw to hony colored beer. The beer has 1 finger of white head with bubbles that are just under medium sized. There are larger bubbles on top. The head is bright white and pulls back leaving a nice coating on the glass. The bottle lists the ABV (6.0%) and the born on date (11/17/2015).

S: [4.25] Mango, peach, pineapple, pine.

T: [4.00] Pineapple, pine, a slight spiciness in the middle. Finishes with mild bitterness.

M: [4.00] Hearty mouthfeel with noticeable carbonation. The beer has a bitter lift at the end but nothing that detracts from the beer.

O: [4.00] Wow, these guys know how to make beer. It isn't cheap but it is tasty. The nose on this is nice and bold and easy to pick up. The taste was more subdued but still very good. This is my second Maine Beer Co. beer this week and they were both great. I would drink this more. And I will seek out more of their beers.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a light amber color, with a small, foamy head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like pine, grassiness, grapefruit, and herbal tea.

This is a nice sturdy little pale ale. Nothing that immediately jumps out to distinguish itself from other pales. It's fairly floral, grassy, and bitter, and less fruity than I would've expected. It does have some light fruitiness, your bog-standard grapefruit. It's super drinkable and the glass does down way quicker than you'd expect.

This is medium bodied, light and crisp on the palate, with a moderate level of carbonation. This is super drinkable.

A really nice and drinkable pale ale. Nothing that'll knock your socks off, but still really tasty to get fresh.

Description: Golden, slightly cloudy color with a white head. Smell is more on the sweet side with orange and mango notes. There's a pine/resin smell but it's not dominant. The taste isn't necessarily what I expected given the smell; more grapefruit, pine and bitterness than sweetness. The feel has a nice clean pop of carbonation and is light-to-medium bodied.

Suggested food pairing: Pasta with a light pesto sauce

If you like this beer then you should also try: Zombie Dust

Ideal time to drink this beer: Sitting on the porch in late summer and enjoying a meal as the sun goes down. Given Maine's latitude, I would bet that the sun goes down pretty quickly so drink fast.

Overall: 4.25 (This beer is good and I may or may not drink it again) This is my first beer from Maine Beer Company and it didn't disappoint. Nothing not to like here, but also nothing really overwhelmingly great about it. I wouldn't necessarily go out looking for it, but if someone offered me MO I might have some mo'.

Poured from 16.9 oz bottle into tulip
Look - pours a slightly hazy yellow with a slight 3/4" white head. Pretty good retention and really nice lace.
Smell - Lemongrass, pine, pineapple, grapefruit
Taste - The lemony flavor comes through dominantly with an interesting bitter presence. It's not overly bitter, but more of a hoppy bitterness. The piney presence is there as well, but subdued.
Feel - Very nice balanced lighter side of medium-bodied beer. Carbonation is medium as well. Pretty dry finish.
Overall - Pretty solid APA from MBC. Lots of subdued flavors that lead to a nice sipper.

Poured into my spiegelau IPA glass, quite simply another hit from Maine Beer...I've never been disappointed. Beautiful pour with a huge frothy head, great retention and lacing. Slightly hazy, light orange-yellow color. The aroma presents a big burst of pine, with slight grass and citrus. Unbelievably smooth and easy to drink, instantly one of my favorite pales. Great balance of piney, floral, hops and sweet malt.

Pour - Burnt orange with a thick white head
Smell - a small burst of pine
Taste - mild upfront with a nice bitterness at the end. Not as balanced as other Pale Ales I've had, but still very good beer
Overall - soft mouthfeel, leaves a little tang at the end. Easy to drink at only 6%

L- hazy deep yellow. Basically can't see through it. Sudsy head that's hear to hang the fuck out. Superb lacing. Pretty ass beer.
S- lemons rind. Grapefruit. Light breadyness. Got this lemon lime thing goin on.
T- first is a wave of big citrus notes. Transitions nicely to a nice mix of grass and pine all the while being slightly supported by a nice white cracker taste. Lite lingering bitterness makes it hard not to take another sip immediately
F- as creamy a 6 percent beer that iv come across but never feeling heavy. Perfect hop delivery system.
O- great beer. Pretty old school in terms of flavor profile but done fairly flawlessly. Wicked good pale ale

Golden pour with lasting white head. Pretty. Aromas of fruit and pine are prevalent. Same comes through in delicious flavor, never tending too bitter. Very balanced, but slightly too much carbonation for my liking. Otherwise top-notch.

Pours a beautiful pale honey gold with a good head which recedes in a few minutes. The smell is juicy for a pale, with tons of tangerines, papaya, melon, and citrus jumping out. The taste follows, nice biscuits pale malts perfectly balance the juicy hops that steal the show. A nice piney citrus mix hits you first, followed by a tinge of sweet fruits, with a grapefruit finish that evolves into strong tangerine as the beer warms. A tangerines taste lingers in your mouth with some slight hop bitterness. Would really like to know the bittering hops used here. Unreal. The feel is almost perfect to style, nice and drinkable with a decent but not overwhelming bite of carbonation and the perfect amount of bitterness on the finish. Overall, this is a world class pale ale. Seek this out fresh if this is your style.

1Pint.9oz bottle into a shaker pint.

A: Pours a just-slightly hazy straw/copper with 1" fluffy white head that recedes slowly. Retention & lacing are both exceptional.

S: Subtle hints of citrus & some floral notes balanced very nicely against ever-so-slightly sweet graham crackery malt.

T: Comes on with floral notes that lead into a bright mid palate of citrus zest & grassy fields. Traces of resinous hop character come into focus here & linger nicely through the off-sweet crackery finish. Just amazing.

M: Moderate-to-high carb married to a very light, delicate, slightly soapy body. Finishes crisply. Maybe a skootch too light for all the flavors here.

O: This is an unbelievably deep, balanced Pale. Among the best to have ever passed my lips.

A - Voluminous four plus fingers worth of rich creamy off white colored head densely packed with some big chunky bubbles mixed in... Rock star retention... The color is a slightly muted golden honey... A moderate bit of slightly sluggish carbonation throughout... Gobs of lacing cling to the sides of the glass...

S - The nose is of bright and vibrant citrusy hops... Grapefruit is at the forefront... A faint malty bread base... Some very light caramel and toffee notes linger way beneath the surface... Simple, straight forward and very effective...

T - It should be no surprise that the hops are again at the forefront... However on the palate they are slightly less citrusy with some piney goodness mixed in... They sit atop a sturdy malt base of biscuit and bread crust... Like the nose, this is fairly simple but extremely well executed...

M - Medium bodied... Sturdy... Lush but slightly chewy... Bright carbonation... Dense and rich... Slightly unique and very effective...

D - This is a world class American Pale Ale... Attention to detail and a lot of subtleties add up to make one outstanding offering... Outstanding in all facets... I don't have a single bit of constructive criticism and this one is near perfection... Maine Brewing has a good thing going and I hope keeps going for a very long time...

Type: 500ml (16.9-oz.) bottle
Glass: Pint mug
From: Eddy’s Beverage Inc. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Price: $6.99
Purchased: July 14, 2015
Consumed: July 16, 2015
Misc.: Born on June 30, 2015

Poured a golden, pale, semi-clear color with 4-to-5 fingers of off-white, frothy head. Average amount of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Great looking spiderweb layered lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)

First thought on the smell was wow. Getting floral, Citra, pine, tropical, tangerine, red grapefruit rind, pineapple, nectarine zest, light mango, sharp apricot and faint peach. Kind of reminded me of Alpine’s Duet. This was great on the nose. (Smell - 4.50)

Taste didn’t quite live up to the nose, but very good. Actually reminded me of a session IPA, which I get is pretty close to a pale ale. Got floral, tropical, pineapple, pine, tangerine rind, orange blossom, light passion fruit, sharp grapefruit and juicy apricot. Could almost taste pulp. (Taste - 4.25)

Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, fruity finish. (Feel - 4.50)

This was fantastic. Not quite as good as an Alpine (not Green Flash) Hoppy Birthday, but pretty damn close. So fresh. (Overall - 4.50)

Dated 06/30/15

Sexy pour, beautiful color and thick foamy head with solid retention ... Also the beer is so drinkable that Its almost too easy to finish before the head has receded. Great scent of pine and citrus, taste is similar with awesome citrus and hop notes that are perfectly balanced with slightly sweet malts.

Overall this brew is ridiculously smooth and drinkable - gushing with fruity citrus flavors perfectly followed by resinous pine. It's so flavorful but remains one of the most refreshing and drinkable beers I've had, which is often a difficult balance to achieve. Bottom line, I love this beer and would drink it every day if I could afford it.
