Poured from 330 ml bottle into a Schlafly tulip. Pours thick opaque brown with a huge puffy tan head. Head doesn't last long and leaves very little lace, and once settled looks almost like a cola. Great smell of dark fruits, banana and a little alcohol. Fairly carbonated (fizzed when I popped the cap) and so smooth. One of the best Belgian dark ales I've had. I like the 10 a little better, but this is very good.

Brasserie de Rochefort Trappistes Rochefort 8, 9.2% ABV, 22 IBU. Pours medium viscosity and walnut brown, with a four finger off-white head that left little lacing. Nose is yeasty and fruity sweet, taste follows though luckily not as sweet as it smells. Great mouthfeel, overall outstanding. This is style #97 of 104 for me, and after drain-pouring most of #96 earlier tonight, this one is a treat.

After having both 10 and 6 expectations were sky-high as they are the two finest of each style I've yet had. The 8 did not disappoint. Pouring hazy brown with a lasting tan head, aroma are immediate candi sugars and cooked sugar. Very sweet nose yields to a pleasantly slightly less sweet flavor of molasses bread and some yeast spiciness. Delicious example of the style. Finish is clean and not cloying given the relative sweetness overall. Just fantastic.

I just reviewed the 6. Tonight I bought the 6, 8, and 10. I've had the 8 and 10 before and the 10 is by far my favorite beer on the planet — to date. I really liked the 6, for what it is. Which is darn good beer!

Okay, while the 6 looks like a sexy strawberry blonde, the 8 is more of a dark ginger nerd.

Smells like your one-night stand's candy coated panties, with less plum than the 6.

It's not much richer than the 6, taste wise...it's bit fuller, but not enough to really distinguish it from the latter.

O-Good beer? Absolutely. It's great. My beef is that if I had to choose between having the 6, 8, or 10 I'd either have the 6: for a lighter, summer type beer; or the 10: for an all out it's-the-end-of-the-world-zombie-apocalypse-so-drink-up-while-you-still-can type ;)

Pours a dark brown color with light tan colored head. Figs, bananas, dark fruits, cherries, berries and sugar on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with more dark fruits.
