Poured from a bottle. Best before date of 23.07.2020 so almost 2 years old.

L - Light cola color with a full bubbly head. Heavily carbonated.
S - Malts, fruits, and spices.
T - Sweet malt and yeast. The alcohol is well hidden, but warming.
F - Full bodied and very carbonated. Very clean finish.
O - Wonderful beer. Will have to try again, hopefully a little fresher.

Taste: Intense bready, rich malt, spiced yeast, raisins, alcohol kick to the finish. Complex spice bread and boozy nose.
Dark copper brown, mostly unfiltered, with large foam head and some broken ring lace on glass. Medium/Full to Full body.
Warming and hearty as too style.

look: 4.5 | smell: 5 | taste: 5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.75

Look: cloudy brown on the darker side nice head but it fades quickly probably due to carbonation and alcohol. Surprisingly good lacing.

Smells: amazing, fruits and malts steal the show, a touch of alcohol

Taste: fruits, maltiness, yeast, caramel, warming alcohol but not overpowering

Feel: pretty strong carbonation but it works

Overall: I'm almost speechless at how great of beer this is, deserves it's world class rating. It's a bit pricey but if you're a fan of Belgians do yourself a favor and get this beer!

Look...color of a strong brisk ice tea. Not much lasting head...little lacing
Smell...figgy...fruity
Taste...anise or licorice..malty..Bready... alcohol
Feel...crisp..full... background hops..not many though.
Overall...very good...$ pricey..7.00 beer so it will remain a novelty experience. If you're buying I will have somemore now and somemore later.

Appearance is very good, nice heavy viscosity, fig coloured and small creamy hair cut. The hair cut like many is gone fairly rapido, and indicates a high effervescence.

Aroma is subtle and none offensive, solid but not as good as say the delirium nocturnum (its like for like benchmark).

Taste is lovely, an almost honey and fig flavour and a real hit of the 9.2%abv on the tongue.....don't be lighting your pipe while drinking this one!

The feel does have a touch of excess gas, but again it doesn't detract massively from what is a superb beer.

I'm not sure it's quite as good as the 5000+ ratings, but hey maybe I'm wrong.

Overall, very very good beer, but not quite on my top shelf.

2012 bottle (expiration date 9/2017)
Look: pours a murky amber/brown color with a nice half inch tan colored head that dissipates rather quickly. very light lacing is observed.
Smell: all about dark fruits, figs, plums and a hint of raisins. earthy phenolic spices. a bit of toasted bread. dark candy sugar sweetness.
Taste: Lots of complex dark fruity flavors combine with deep candy and caramel sweetness. bitterness is bold without being harsh.
Feel: medium bodied with a rich texture, pronounced astringency and almost effervescent carbonation. Finishes malty sweet and smooth. Sensations, specially the astringency, diminish over time.
Overall: aging an almost perfect beer... is difficult. remains an outstanding beer but I would have to have a fresh one to side-by-side judge. its appearance is probably degraded somewhat, but despite its still bold flavors, its a smooth drinker.

She pours a dark brown and leaves the same colored body with some purple edges - interesting. There is a one finger white foamy head - very pillowy looking clings for a good minute and slowly dies leaving adequate lacing but the lacing dies within a good minute. The smell has a lot of booze up front, candied fruits (a combination of cherries and plums) with some figs and clove well presented. The taste has a wholly sweet flavoring all the way through and lots of booze. It has a boozy/slightly candied fruit aftertaste with a thick candied fruit sticky finish. On the palate, she sits about a medium to heavy. The ABV is definitely felt and in no way is remotely sessionable. The carbonation seems good. Overall, pretty nice BSDA, I'd have again.

Look: 3 finger brown-white head, brown body.

Smell: Earthy brown sugar, a hint of sweet caramel, molasses, pepper. Mild notes of dark fruits.

Taste: See above.

Feel: High, prickly carbonation, medium body. Dry finish. Mild warming alcohol.
