Opened a bottle with a best by date of 11.04.2018. Pours a clear orange amber with nice rocky, frothy white head. Aromas of caramel, fig, and some dark fruits; however this bottle has experienced quite a bit of oxidation which detracts. Tastes oxidized with caramel malts and some raisin characteristics. Malt forward with some bitterness to round out the malts. Feels medium bodied and alcohol is kept in check. Would not have guessed this was 7.5% ABV. Not sure if i’m not quite digging this or this bottle was handled improperly. I wish I had a fresh or fresher sample.

Made the mistake of drinking this after the Rochefort 10. So it suffered in comparison.

This beer pours a lighter brown color. The head was 1 finger, white, and didn't last extremely long.
The nose is pleasing. It almost has notes of barrel ageing. Caramel notes dominate.
The taste I get tart up front, then the caramel kicks in on the backside. Really nice combination.
Full bodied. Nice mouthfeel with the 2 flavors working together.
While this isn't as amazing as the #10, it is still an outstanding beer. TR deserves their reputation for producing great beers.

Overall not a bad beer, but I don't know if it's something I'd really want again. Really heavy on the carbonation. Carmel, tart, and plum taste/aroma. Maybe a bit spicey/peppery flavor as well. The mouthfeel was very heavy and thick as well. The beer just seemed to coat everything.

A: Golden brown color at pour. Poured one finger worth of head that quickly disappeared while drinking.

S: Mostly picking up the malty grain smell from the beer. Maybe a bit of pepper also.

T: Malty spiciness up front. Not much going on in this area, in my opinion. Picking up the grains predominantly.

M: Medium mouthfeel. Picking out a few carbonation bubbles throughout the glass. Best area of the beer.

O: Average easy drinking beer. Not much stands out but would drink again.

Taste: super dry, crisp, champagne mouth-feel, yeast, peppery herb, cracker notes. Same with the nose but more alcohol to aroma. Dark amber hue, mostly clear, tall foam head with lots of carbonation, some lace. Medium body.

Murky brown with hints of orange-red. Candied red fruit, apricot, cinnamon, and faintly soapy yeastiness. Medium+ malt profile. Effervescent carb, and dry white pepper on the finish. Overall, drinkable and complex. 8.5+/10
