Fills a Rochefort chalice with a dark, copper brown (SRM 18-21). Clear with some yeast colloids while fine streams of carbonation tower throughout. A short-lived, eighth-inch, creamy beige head leaves fine lace.

The aroma is rich with dried fruit, such as figs, dates, and prunes. A light sourness is balanced by sweet molasses, followed by spice and pumpernickel bread.

Quite sweet without being cloying as a faint bitterness takes hold late in each sip. The finish is similarly bitter with light acidity. Warmth brings out the raisins and other dried fruit in an unfolding journey from sweet nectar to rich, fresh-baked wheat bread.

A full body with a creamy texture of velour. Only a hint of alcohol, well below expectation, while the carbonation is explosive.

This is an exquisite beer to be savored during a long session while contemplating life’s journey and enjoying the company of someone you love.

From the bottle directly: full body, not overly sweet but moderately rich. Drank it before an Old Rasputin, and it was a solid 15% better.

Smooth and dark, can’t say enough about how much I like it.

Props to Tavern Lafayette in Fayetteville Arkansas for stocking it after the owners visited the abby.

I liked this beer.. shoot, I loved this beer, I did this as a tasting between St. Bernardus Abt 12, and St. Sixtus Wesvleteran 12, and Chimay red. I liked this one the least, but it wasn't a slight. It was the best beer night of my entire life. But, that being said, I thought this one was just a little bit floral tasting almost, it just wasn't my ideal cup of tea. That being said, I would drink this over most beers that exist.

Dark, almost black with a luscious tan head that has phenomenal retention. Oh my god does this smell good. Fresh baked toasted raisin bread. The flavor follows the aroma with some dates, figs, and dark cherries thrown in. Thick mouthfeel with a lot of fizzy carbonation. This one lives up to the hype and I'll have another when I have the chance.

Drinking out of a stemless Teku.
Pours a clear dark mahogany with a thin tan head.
Smells of dark caramel, traces of molasses.
Nice mouth feel.
Malt forward. Nice taste of sweet molasses.

Nice dark brown color with lovely tan head. Aroma of bread and dark fruit. Taste is more of the same, bread and dark fruits. Mild carbonation in the mouthfeel. Hides the abv quite well. A classic.
