Smallest Whole Foods I’ve been in, across the USA. Small, crowded parking lot with panhandling (area has a bunch of homeless/street people). Average grocery store selection of beer, but...this store gets Pliny and Blind Pig - only reason to go here...doubt I will ever return.

Really the only things that apply here are SELECTION and QUALITY. Whole foods on Telegraph definitely deserves above average marks in both. The selection mostly consists of single bottles, but there's also a well rounded selection of 6 and 4 packs as well. For a grocery store, whole foods beer selection is the best I have seen in many many places. This is the best selection and quality you are going to find short of going into a specialty shop. The price is pretty much what you would expect for retail beer. You might find a sale or decent price on a single bottle once in a while, but don't expect $7 six packs or anything super cheap. This and Berkeley Bowl is the only place I go to buy beer in the area.

Berkeley whole foods has been one of my major stopping points since I've started this relatively new hobby of beer tasting. Their overall selection is not huge but this is one instance where I would emphasize quality over quantity. I find many of their selections of import beers to be overpriced but their local craft brew selection is usually well-stocked and affordable. With all but a few exceptions I haven't had trouble getting my favorite Russian River selections here.

Alongside the decent CA craft brew selection they have a huge Belgian selection. I am sad that they only carry one or two Lagunita's or Stone selections at a time. But shelf space is limiting. In term's of Belgians and Belgian style ales from all over the United States there selection is substantial. An additional positive factor is that all there beer is warm.

The service is average and I have never been offered a suggestion. I sometimes feel I may be annoying the staff as a spend between 5-10 minutes analyzing the beer selection and deciding on my purchase. What can I do, I am a novice. I can read about a beer on this site, but looking at the bottle reading freshness dates and ingredient list can sometimes be a deciding factor. I have had some pleasant interactions with the customers who are often just as obsessed with beer as I am.

You can buy food at Whole foods (obvious). They have a huge selection of mainly Organic meats and vegetables which is fantastic and I have been in the whole before composing meals from a whole foods shopping trip. Kudo's to them for the food but I am there for the beer and I will continue going to Whole Food's Berkeley to stock up on some of my favorite craft selections and to explore new beers. By the way, the prices are for the most part not excessive.

I stopped by here as part of my journey to the Berkeley beer scene.

As with most Whole Foods stores, the Berkeley store had a nice selection of top quality beers. However, their refrigerator was just over 1/2 the size of the nearby Oakland Whole foods (one of my favorite Whole Foods stores in the Bay Area). So while good, the Berkeley store isn't great.

All of the beer here is kept refrigerated, with the exception of a handful of "specials" they have on the floor.

There are lots of great beers here, and it's a good place for beer, but in Berkeley, there are better stores, including Berkeley Bowl, Star Grocery, and of course Ledger's.

Located close to Oakland this Whole Foods' selection is stunning. Perhaps the largest of any Whole foods I have been in for sometime. Many Nor cal 6 packs including Bear Republic, Anchor, North Coast, 21st Amendment (cans). Bomber and oversize bottle selection is crazy-RR Blind Pig, Pliny the Elder, Damnation 21, Elysian from Seattle, Fat Tire Limited Edition, etc. Pretty standard selection of Whole Foods Belgian, German, and United Kingdom beers. Service was friendly and price reflects both the bay area and Whole Foods. Must stop for food and beer if nearby.
