Viscous jet with tan + oxblood highlights. 3.75
Prune, charcoal then rum barrel and blackberry jam. 4.25
Molasses and licorice, fig jam, hint of Marmite, kola, and cold hipster espresso. 4.5
Medium, round, and chewy. 4

Nose starts evil but gets sweet. A ton of dark fruit - mincemeat comes to mind - and still no chocolate or dark roast coffee. Smooth and warm but dry and way easy for 9%. How it’s done.

Classic. 4.25

Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Roasted malt and some chocolate, just a little bit of dark fruit. A light coffee note, maybe some toffee. Flavor is lightly bitter, but it’s got a nice fruit note, sweet toffee, and heavy on the roasted malts.

Thanks a TON to rtepiak for this unusual Polish local!!!

A: Black beer with a reddish-brown hue =. Half a finger worth of a light brown head. Retention is low and lacing is low.

S: Very traditional, english like baltic porter. This has a lot of chocolate, caramel cake, toffee, leather, molasses, smoke and light coffee. It most definitely have a vinous character with lots of porter-like aromas. There are dark fruits like over ripe black cherries, figs, dates and over ripe red apples (the super sweet kind).

T: Taste is not as strong as expected after the smell but is much more interesting. Again, very traditional porter with nuts, leather and smoke coming forward with the taste. Then, there are the various caramel like flavors (molasses, toffee, etc...). Very vinous in the finish with the black cherries, figs, light dates and red apples that brings a nice acidic touch. Layered and complex. No alcohol at all.

M: Very traditional in the sense that it is light and very drinkable. Light body and light carbonation. Very English porter like. A bit too light though.

O: Very interesting brew from a Polish brewery. We see so few of these super traditional baltic porters, most of the ones we get could be easily mistaken for an Imperial Stout. This is true to the style.

THIS IS NOT THE OTHER CIECHAN PORTER BUT A LIMITED HIGH GRAVITY RELEASE.

the range of gravity is read in a metric weight in poland... this is a 22% beer. hence the name. i'm not really sure what the logic means though but i've seen it on countless bottles.

the pour is proper. the head comes about 5 seconds after the pour. an end of the night beer. doesn't feel thick but balanced. the look is opaque with a mocha head of about two fingers. not nose is forrest berries coffee, and a mild molasses. this carries over into the palate with a nice blend of everything that sits in that baltic tang. coffee, baker's chocolate, black currant, rose water that contracts in a nice acidic leathery finish. great little polish mystery.
