Notes / Commercial Description:
A crafty lager, bottom fermented with pilsner yeast and stored for 6 weeks at chilly temperatures. Delivers a smooth, crisp and fruity experience. Brewed with Iso-resistant bittering hops and a bundle of American aroma hops, giving out stability with style, presented in a swarve transparent bottle.

A 330ml clear glass bottle with a BB of Nov 2012. Acquired recently from a webshop.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A golden colour with faint haze and medium carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before disappearing. Not sure if this is bottle-conditioned (there was something floating at the bottom before I opened it). An unusual fruity aroma - strongly reminiscent of raisins or sherry. Hints of light malt, stewed hops and a stale background note. Odd for a lager.

Tastes of light malt with a sweet fruitiness and a stale bitter finish. Notes of raisins/dried fruit, fruity yeast, stewed hops and a hint of overcooked veg. A stale, cooked flavour in the background, accompanied by hints of solvent. Mild bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with some astringency. Aftertaste of stale stewed veg/hops.

I'm not loving this one; the flavour just seems way off mark. The slightly sweet, raisiny taste is odd, and the staleness is unpleasant. I wonder if the fruitiness is due to the yeast strain or something else that happened during fermentation. The clear bottle could also be responsible for some sort of deterioration. At any rate, this is a lesson in how not to make a decent lager. I hate to bash the little guy, but this is absolutely not recommended.
