11. 2 fl oz poured into a snifter, best by 12/04/18. Straw gold with a three finger fluffy white head. Good lace retention. Some sediment, I was able to keep the majority in the bottle. Very active carbonation visible. The aroma is pear, grape (like a white wine), and mild grains. The taste is in line, and throws in some mild sweetness and clove/pepper spice features. The mouthfeel is excellent, the huge carbonation release resulting in a medium low carbonation level on the drink, with heft and feel right in the middle. Overall, a well made and tasty Tripel that I look forward to revisiting.

A: Pours a lovely straw gold with a creamy, one-finger head
S: Immediate spice and zest and the trademark yeasty tripel character, there are also some warm, pilsner-like grain notes are present, some white grape here as well
T: It's odd to note this but to me there are a lot of immediate similarities between the grain profile of this and czechvar, it is immediately spicy and peppery with some lemon and a nice spicy hop bite, has a coppery feel to it as well offset by some sweetness, there is a subtle hint of tartness here as well and a certain zest I can't quite pin down, I think it might be lime
M: very sharp on the tongue, perhaps too sharp
O: Finally got around to reviewing this beer, the original tripel, an excellent beer, but I stand by my claim that St. Bernardus Tripel has more personality to it than this one does. I don't say that to take away from it, just as a comment. This is truly an exceptional ale and a bucket list beer no matter how easy it is for you to get it

Bottle best before 3/22/18; decanted into conical pint glass.

Pours a honey-golden color with a large foamy head with good retention and lacing. Nose: cloves, honey, a touch of pepper. Taste: banana, honey, mocha notes with through and through effervescence throughout; really top notch. Refreshingly medium bodied.

Opened to toast the discovery of Trappist - 1e, f, and g in the "Goldilocks Zone."

Finally getting a chance to try this classic This beer pours clear gold with a large head. The aroma features a huge amount of clove, with apricot, banana, black pepper, and honey. The flavor is fruitier than the aroma, resplendent with apricot and banana, with an undercurrent of clove, nutmeg, dried lemon peel, and a dirty, dusky finish. The mouthfeel is fullish, with foamy carbonation, and a tea-like astringency. Overall I see why this is a classic - it is a gorgeous beer, and very moreish given the strength.

From notes taken 01/22/17:

On the back of the bottle it says best before 12/12/15. Okay, I should have had it sooner, but this is a 9.5% beer so I am not too terribly worried. I’ll review it aged for now, and if I think to, I’ll review it again fresh.

Honey amber, opaque and swirly with haze, but also a suspended matrix of semi-fine flecks. Bright off-white watery but rocky, and film-forming head of moderate retention. Lacing is thick and wide but sinks down quickly. Very sweet nose, a sweet white wine, light berries, some fresh-squeezed orange juice, esters and mild medicinal phenols, and a touch of vinegar, alcohol very much hidden, detectable with longer whiffs. As it sits, barely anything but caramel, soapy phenols, a drier white wine, a little yeast, and booze left to nose. And this more or less describes the palate as well, although caramel partly substituted with malt tartness, and the addition of brewing herbs or spices barely noticeable in the balance. Fairly yeasty and somewhat vinous aftertaste, though phenols and ethanol linger. I’d call it full-bodied but it is so creamy with abundant and fine tingly carbonation that everything else seems watery. Plenty of heat.

Very smooth , one of the best trappist ive had so far..

Like hazy golden color , 1 finger pure white head.

Smell is sweet and yeasty as with most of the belgian tripel.

Taste is sweetness followed by yeast and then a little funk on the end.

Feel is medium body with some heavy carbonation fizzy burn.

Overall a damn good beer and i will buy it again .
