Poured to a Chimay goblet.

A: Body is brown to coppery with relative haziness. Head is beige with a one finger thickness. No lacing but amazingly good retention.
S: Aroma is very strong on belgian yeast, cocoa, malts roastiness and fruity with some blackberries on top. Very dark but very lively.
T: Taste begins with a very sweet touch, almost liquorice like, having the fruity and roastiness blended very well together. In the end of the sip, the roastiness appears again to let a slight bitterness shine through. Brilliant.
M: Body is low. Carbonation is good. Alcohol is noticeable, way more than expected.
O: This Dubbel is great. Should have it more often.

11.2oz bottle poured into a goblet.

A: Deep garnet color with good clarity. Beige head settles to a thin cap shortly. Thin ring of lacing.

S: Full-on fruit cake. Sweet, sticky, sugary fruit cake. Plum, redfruits, brandy. Yeasty. Expressive spice-like aromas of cinnamon and clove. Intoxicating.

T: Sweet and sticky at the front. Molasses, fruit cake, hints of raspberry ganache. Then it dries effortlessly. Dusty yeast and spices take hold. Clove and hints of cinnamon. Faint alcohol. Earthy hops are barely noticeable. Lingering malt and spice finish with suggestions of cocoa powder.

M: Medium bodied. A thick malt body tries to press down, but the expressive carbonation lifts it away before it can settle.

O: along with Chimay Rouge, this is the paragon of the style. One need not look any further in their quest for world's best dubbel.

Aroma and taste with notes of red drum wine.
I like beer 7-8%, but this beer is mediocre.

Dark orange brown with moderate foamy tan head. Smells sweet, like ripe fruit. Taste is surprisingly a bit sour-bitter, cherries & raisins with a cereal-like finish. Overall a bit weak. Feel is thin. Overall a bit disappointing.

330ml bottle poured into a goblet.

Hazy ruby brown in color, the pour quickly builds up very thick fluffy khaki head that everlastingly withstands until the last sip and gradually leaves plenty of sticky and refined lacing patch and spot on the glass-side. Superb showcase.

Well mellow aroma, fruity ester from yeast of ripe banana, prune, dried-raisin, grape, dark cherry, currant, and a little hint of clove as well as sweet fruit cake, caramel, bread, molasses, candy sugar, and bitter chocolate from malt. Also, there is a suggestion of earthy hop.

The taste is led by its fruity ester of ripe banana, prune, dried-raisin, grape, dark cherry, currant, and subtle clove spice like the aroma. Malt reveals just a little bit thereafter with obvious notes of caramel, fruit cake, bread, molasses, candy sugar, and bitter roasted chocolate. Hop is woody and earthy that only lends a quick flash at the end.

Medium body with velvety yet silky smooth mouthfeel from its moderate carbonation, the feeling is well-rounded with nice crispness and good liveliness touch. Finish is pleasantly dry.

The master of brewing art from the old world, this is purely class and this is truly art. Alcohol is completely concealed underneath its greatness.

Dark appearance with a complementary tan head. Rich aroma, with raisins and dried fruit, sweet with a hint of spiciness. On sipping, the taste and feel are fairly sweet and smooth, but lighter and a little lighter than I anticipated at first. There are some grain flavours in there and a little bit of sourness. There is some fizz on the tongue followed by froth, on the edge of my personal taste but not too much for me and reasonable for the style. Neither the smell nor the flavour were as punchy as I had hoped, but it was still very nice. I wonder if the temperature was correct. It had been taken out of the fridge about three-quarters of an hour before serving.
