This 90 Shilling Ale is a Scotch Ale slightly lower in gravity and is a refreshingly malty beer. The dark amber color betrays its slightly sweet, caramel roastedness. There is very little hop bitterness and it finishes with a gorgeous clean, dry, smoke.

Delicious!!!! One of the best fruit beers I have had. Once again Dragonmead is above top notch along with being consistent quality that most breweries wish they could strive for!

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub.

Poured a deeper amberish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, chocolate, and lighter earthy-peat. Tastes of caramel, peaty, toffee, and all around malty. Alcohol content well hidden.

Great version of a Scottish Ale. Very dark brown with almost no head. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Malty and carmelly sweetness probably due to higher than normal FG. This also had a wonderful smoky flavor. I wonder if they used peat to smoke? This beer really impressed me and I will definately be drinking it again.

Hazy, reddish brown with a thin, dark beige head. The aroma was all malt with some smokiness, maybe a little bit of peat. Very mild bitterness and no hop flavour. Lots of malt sweetness, plenty of caramel, a bit of roastiness with a faint smoke character. Medium/full bodied with low carbonation. I liked the malt character in this one, not overly complex but tasty enough.

Not a bad little Scottish ale, a bit run of the mill but still quality and quite tasty.

Pours a deep tobacco red in color with a thin creamy white head that left a swirl in my pint. Nose is of smokey Scotch and burned sugar primarily with wafts of bready malt as well. Taste is similar, but a little thin with the alcohol a bit more present on the palate than 6.6% would indicate. Still a decent example of the style, but their wee heavy is much better in my honest opinion.

Slàinte!

Clear amber with a brownish head. Aromas of roasted malt, sweet fruit, touches of smoke, and alcohol. Flavor consisted of hops, pineapple, grapes, some sweetness. Overall, a fairly weak tasting scotch ale with nothing standing out from other scotch ales.
