Clear rich orange hue.

Off-white head; minimal lace.

Bread & light citrus nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Old bread flavor dominates any hop profile. Old perhaps?

Bottle, unknown date:
The beer pours a burnt orange to faded brown, and fairly cloudy. For an IPA, this seems a bit mis-colored, as it's far from pale. The white head builds up nice in an average strength pour, and does stick around in a film on the surface and medium thick on the edges. The foamy edges lace the glass, saving the look rating from being sub-avg.

The nose is honey and biscuit like in nature, a little on the sweet side. The nose is a bit malty for an IPA, but nice. I do get a bit of caramel also, and that does fit in a bit with the English style IPAs I have had. I also get some hints of dark fruit.

As expected, this beer is a bit on the malty side, with a dark-bread sweetness. The English IPA features or caramel and noble hops are evident and balance quite well. If the hops came out a little more, I think I'd rate it a bit higher. There is a raisin taste in the background, as well. This is a medium body, low carbonation feel beer.

Actually, this beer was quite enjoyable. I do prefer American IPAs to English IPAs in general, but as stated, this doesn't seem to quite fit into either. This beer seems a little bit like a Dopplebock or Dubbel in its sweetness. Perhaps I just haven't had many maltier English IPAs. Ignoring styles, this was a very enjoyable beer.
