A light colored version of the Alt Beer. This beer uses an ale type yeast at lager-like temperatures. What results is a smooth, almost fruity beer that is pleasing to the palate. A small amount of Wheat malt is used to give extra body to this otherwise "light" beer. Hallertau hops balance the malt but impart no hop aroma.

Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of apples, caramel and pale malts. The taste has sweet grainy notes, light grassy hops and a fruity finish. Medium bodied, an ok beer.

Reviewed on 06/19/2010. On tap at the brewery. The beer pours a clear golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of bready malt and light fruits. Flavor sweet malt, slight diacetyl, and sweet fruit. A chill beer, very drinkable, but certainly on the sweet side.

I had this on tap at the Hop Cat in Grand Rapids. The beer was served in a pint glass, and was a light golden color with about 1 cm of foam and a little lacing. The aroma was appropriately light, grainy malts and biscuit. Same with the taste, light malts and the flavors of classic Kolsch, maybe even a little robust for the style. Easy pounding, a very nice representation of the style.

On tap at the Dragonmead Brew Pub.

Poured a lighter to medium and hazy yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of some grassines, citrus, and bread. Tastes of fhte same grassiness, a little fruity and bready. Lighter all the way around.

Yellow body bested by good creamy white head, leaves attractive lacing. Fresh hop and malt aroma. Interesting bitterness and creamy. drinkable and I could spend the night at it, enjoyed at the brewpub. Good example of style and sessionable by Detroit standards.

Yes. This needs to be bottled and made available year round. A hazy, foggy yellow color with a medium head of white foam and notes of lacing in the glass. Near perfect presentation. Aromas of spices, floral hops and tamed grain make me think of a warm summer in early evening. Wow. Taste is light and inviting; citrus, floral hops, mild grains and hops, with a touch of natural sweetness. Mouthfeel was light and airey, very easy on the palate. Very good drinkability. This will make a great summer brew. Recommended.

Pours the color of 18K gold with a very thin head that leavesspecs of lace on the glass.
Aroma of lemon, cracked grain and pale malt.
Flavor of lemon and pale malt dominate with a light summer wheat tinge also present.
Mouthfeel is full yet light, bitter yet sweet. Classic balance of a Kolsch, very refreshing.
Drinkability is very high. True to styke, authentic. Had too many big beers before this one this is a very solid and delicious beer.

On tap at the brewery's pub.

Straw yellow to light golden colour with some haze and a dense white head. Very light spicy noble hop aroma with no malt present. As the beer warmed, it developed a light fruity aroma as well. The flavour is composed of spicy hops, light bitterness and sweet maltiness that lead to a clean, dry finish. Overall, a little on the sweet side. Light body with medium/light carbonation.

This beer just screams "summer". Pours out to a bright color resembling a light orange mixed with some yellow highlights. Nose is that of fresh grains and spices. Taste shows signs of clove and banana. All in all, a very refreshing beer. This could be a great session beer on a warm day.

Slightly hazy golden under a cap of thin foam. Nose of under-ripe strawberries and lawn clippings. Mild malt and tasty hops dance across the buds in balanced perfection amidst undertones of toasted sesame bagels. A complex simplicity, a generally clean finish, another Kaiser's Koelsch please!
