A good, but not the best, beer from Guinness Ltd. Pours a dark golden color. The flavors follow the nose. Mild honey with hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is light and there is medium carbonation. This is close to an IPA but not quite. Fairly dry, with a subtle bitterness. Not bad overall but not something I would select again.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This golden ale pours a medium amber color with a
decent head of white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and showcases light lacing.
Nose of subtle grains, light English style yeast notes, and a hint of sweet malts. Flavors follow the
nose with light exception giving way to mild honey malts and medium grain notes and a medium
hop bitterness. Light mouth feel, medium carbonation, and a clean grain touched finish.

Overall, not much of a golden ale in color and flavor and not much more than a thirst quencher.
This is a shame really, the rye was so nice. Fine for a primer brew after mowing the lawn, other than that
it is pretty lack luster to bear the name Guinness.

Pours golden yellow/amber with minor head and light lacing. Smells very mild, light hops, grain, sweetness. The taste is not bad but again missing a lot of flavor. A dry mild hops with some grain mixed in, carbonated, and minor sweetness. The finish is mild and light. Overall a beer that if given more work could be good but it came up flat and boring to be honest. I just don't get the whole side project that seems to focus on ZERO flavor, really disappointed with Guinness.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2017. Picked up recently from B&M. I take this to be an attempt to broaden Guinness' customer base.

A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deep coppery-amber colour with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or so before settling as a patchy surface layer. Darker than expected.

S: Aroma of ale yeast and light malt, with hints of mild grain, subtle stewed leaves and a touch of cardboard in the background. Bland.

T: Tastes of pale malt and yeast, with notes of stewed leaves, faint grain, ale yeast and a vaguely acrid hint of cardboard on the finish. Fairly dry, with a subtle bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Aftertaste of mild grainy malt, faint yeast and cardboard.

O: Meh - pretty dull fare. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are mild and bland with subtle off-notes. Body is decent for the strength. Total lack of charisma, and the Guinness history being thoroughly intertwined with dark beer doesn't help the perception that this is just pish for a segment of the market. Drinkable but hardly worth it - give it a miss.

Unknown vintage; drank 4/12/17 @ the Yarchives.

See-through copper appearance.

A rough pour yielded a small khaki head; decent lace.

Cream, oats & mild hop bite notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Creamed wheat & mild honey flavors up front; faint hop bite on the finish.

Substantial & decent; I can't say I'd have another but this wasn't too unpleasant.

Pours a dark golden color. Smells of fruity hopness. Almost, like an IPA. Taste is earthy and bitter, with the fruity hopness at the end. Mouthfeel, is light. Overall, I feel like I enjoyed this beer more than others.

11.2oz bottle poured into a pint glass shows a dull amber, burnt orange colored body and floats a 1/4" off-white head that dissipates to an edge hugging ring. Active bubbles and no lacing.
The bottle marketing boasts: “A group of enterprising brewers on a quest to explore new recipes, reinterpret old ones and collaborate freely to bring new ideas to life. A beautifully balanced ale with a rich golden hue. The subtle biscuit flavors of the malted barley perfectly compliment the pleasing bitterness and delicate, fruity hop aroma, giving way to a refreshingly crisp finish.”
Aroma is a toasty biscuit malt with a hint of stone fruit and honey.
Flavor matches.
Feel is clean, almost fizzy, and light with a dry finish.
Overall the toast aroma and flavor throws me off, but I like the clean finish. English pale ale, really? Not a really light porter?

11.2 oz. bottle - Part of a variety pack:

Pours deep, clear golden copper. A thin creamy head leaves lacing.

The smell is soft, but pleasant. Caramel and honey mix with an earthy tone.

The taste is of caramel, nuts, honey. Earthy dryness balances most of the sweetness.

It is smooth. On the lighter side of medium body.

An easy-drinking, decent standard English Pale Ale.

Pours a clear dark orange almost auburn color. Soda like carbonation visible. Thinnish fizzy head dissipates almost instantly leaving a ring of sudsy foam along the outside of the beer.

Smell has notes of oak, vanilla, acorns, floral earthy hops. There is also a chemically/cleaner smell on the back end that peaks through.

Taste has notes of vanilla, oak, earthy hops. Flavors are muted and watery. None of that chemical aroma is noted in the flavor. Odd sweetness - like fluff or marshmallows. Flavors are a bit better as it warms. Reminiscent of the English pale ale style - but not well done. Too watery, hops are muted, and that marshmallow sweetness is off.

Feel is medium bodied - mainly from the sweetness. Fizzy prickly carbonation.

Overall this beer is pretty meh. Not a good example of the style and the chemically aromas coupled with the marshmallow sweetness on the flavor isn't good.
