Guinness Original has a thick, creamy, beige head, a dark brown, with red highlights, appearance, and some spiderweb glass lacing. Aroma is of dark-roasted malt, cream, coffee, and brown bread crust. Taste is of those elements, with some acrid char, but no burnt qualities. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Guinness Original finishes very dry.

Too fizzy. At Beshoff for fish and chips, Dublin.

Some elements of a drinkable dry stout, drowned out with massive quantities of carbonic co2

Yet another Guinness release that tastes watery and thin and short on quality and quantity of ingredients

Pours black with a soda-like fizzy head. Aromas and flavors of slightly roasty malt, toasted bread crust, some earthy notes and milky chocolate. Unfortunately it all tastes a little watered down, fake, medicinal and metallic. Watery, far too thin mouthfeel. Overly fizzy. Not my favorite Irish dry stout, and not the best Guinness has to offer: even if this is a historically significant beer.

Nabbed as part of a variety 12 pack at a Total Wine & More. 11.2 fl oz brown glass bottle with a pry-off crown cap.

Brief initial impression:

500ml bottle picked up at the Dublin Airport. Best before 22/04/16 printed on the back label. Served in a Guinness Tulip. Pours the color and clarity of cola with a dense, 2.5 inch, khaki-colored head. Nose expresses the classic Guinness roast and not much else - perhaps some char. Taste follows nose - a bit more watery than the standard offering. Mouthfeel is light in body with a mild, even carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, not much different than the standard Guinness Extra Stout you can get in the States.

Had this 4.2% abv beer in a 500 ml bottle in the UK recently. It tasted a bit thin and watery -- like someone is trying to stretch their Guinness to go around.

Served at cellar temperature from 500ml bottle into straight pint glass.

L) Red-tinged opaque black with 1cm dense tan head. Looks the part.

S) A bit watery roasted malt.

T) Follows the nose I suppose, a bit bitter, a pleasant and unexpected bit of smokiness, fairly watery even compared to the bog-standard Guinness from a can.

F) Watery for a stout, nicely fizzy. Very slight bitterness on the aftertaste.

O) Watery; lots of better stouts even on the supermarket shelves. Cannot recommend really.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass.

Wow, this is a really bad beer. I try not to be too critical, after all I have never brewed a thing in my life but this smells and tastes of almost nothing. The closest I can think of is Perrier. Way too gassy for a stout. Maybe I've been spoiling myself with too many RIS style beers and my expectations have changed. I respect that this is a tribute to a historical beer style but thank god I wasn't alive back then if this was the norm. Cheers

poured from a pint bottle from the fridge. Looks black, maybe a bit red when held up to the light but what are you doing holding it up to the light? Thin head with carbonation dancing merrily on top. Doesn't smell like much but I like it cold. Maybe a bit muted and thin tasting compared to other stouts but it is eminently swampable. Perfect with a packet of crisps on a Sunday afternoon

From a 440ml can.
L: Very dark brown with a ruby tinge. Thin, off-white head that reduces to a smear but leaves lots of lacing.
S: Some low-key, rather bland, roasted malt.
T: Thin, weak caramel.
F: Watery & dry.
O: Incredibly disappointing. Lack of flavour. Lack of body. No coffee, no chocolate, no fruit. Thin & metallic. Dreadful.
