Our recipe starts with Irish-grown, Irish-malted wheat. A long fermentation with the classic Guinness yeast strain brings out subtle banana, clove and citrus notes—flavors we hold back in our stouts but let loose in our perfectly balanced Irish Wheat. The result is a golden and hazy wheat beer with a clean, crisp, refreshing zesty citrus taste.

this is better than its ratings and one of the better non stouts i have ever had from guinness really. its neat that they have irish grown and malted wheat in this beer, im not sure what that tastes like specifically as in ingredient, but i like it in the beer, seemingly earthier, but also richer than what i am used to from pale wheat malt, and it serves as a greta foundation and flavor layer in this beer, nice body, great cereal complexion, and simple and clean overall. the beer is sort of hefeweizen-like but without the yeast, it has more of a european ale yeast to it, classic and a little bready, possibly fermented a little warmer to encourage some ester formation, but its pretty subtle, pleasant, and definitely summery. i get light green banana and white pepper here, dried hay and straw from this wheat, and the slightest little lemon twist at the end, fresh and delicate. this is real dry, super drinkable, and has a really nice warm weather vibe about it, quite well refined, a neat recipe and cool with this irish wheat, which i would like to see more of! sometimes i dont think these guys get enough credit for their other beers, this one is excellent and quite distinctive!

A: Hazy blonde, a nice color. Head is a little short, fizzy--though retention is decent.

S + T: Aromas are quite mild--certainly some banana notes, and a touch of spiciness. The taste allows a little more clove-like spice to come through along with the wheaty notes, though perhaps lighter on the expected banana typical of a hefeweizen.

M + O: Body is medium, paired with a modest carbonation--it's an average experience overall. While not bad, it is likely not among wheat beers that I would reach for when given a choice.

Glass - Weizen

Look - Hazy lemon yellow with fairly thin foamy head. Not long retention. No lacing.

Smell - Banana, citrus, mulling spices, bread crust, graham cracker.

Taste - front-loaded with lots of citrus, lingering finish of banana, wheat bread, and slight florality. Mildly hoppy aftertaste.

Feel - Very bright and carbonated, zesty, sharp on the tongue.

Overall - I really enjoy this beer. It's more flavorful and nuanced than most wheat beers I've had, with a lot of lingering fruit and honey in the aftertaste. The clove note described on the label is very subtle. This is a really good beer, but not what I'd call an easy drinker. I could have one or two and I'm done. It has a lot of presence and I feel like its flavors are a bit too strong to sit and drink multiples. It has a mead-like quality to it. Lots of flavor and fun to sip on. Not one I wanna drink quickly and casually.

You can smell the citrus, especially banana prominently right after you crack one open. Nice smooth malt taste with a bit of clove. Good beer.

L: Light amber/golden coloring. Slightly cloudy with a very minimal head, and mild lacing.

S: Hints of wheat, citrus fruits, cloves, and bananas.

T: Initially able to taste wheat with slight citrus flavors. Hints of spices, citrus fruits, and cloves peaking through.

F: Creamy, smooth, and full bodied, with a medium carbonation. Nicely structured from start to finish.

O: Refreshing and crisp, with a slight zesty taste that complements the brew, without overpowering the consumer. An overall wonderful part of the Guinness Family.

I love Hefeweizens and I always rate them high, this is no surprise here which are always flavorful. No matter where they come from and no matter the way they taste, they are always some of the best beers to drink!
