Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Body is thin and black, head is not heavy little thin if you ask me; coming off light tan and rising a lot off an inch off the body and dropped to nothing after picking up the glass.

Smell: Light but raw hops. It is very bland.

Taste: Little hops, and comes off lightly toasted.

Mouth: Medium carbonation, not so sticking after-taste...but somewhat consistently sharp.

Overall: Good but not great, you can and will find a whole lot better even from Guinness for the same price. Salud!

Looks like a dark cola. It's very, very dark black, but even from the pour you can tell it's a bit thin, slightly clear. The head is an off-tan color, kind of creamy in texture and has decent retention. Really nice lacing after sitting for a while.

Like the bottle says, 'roasted barley.' That's about all you can pick up in the nose.

Anything Guinness other than stout doesn't do much for me, but this has slight flavor. Again, it's all about the roasted barley. There's little else, but at least it's something. A bit of smoke from the roast but that's it.

No body whatsover. Sure, it's got a strong barley flavor, but there's little alcohol and a very watered down, loose feel. There is a bitter finish, but it needs more of just about everything.

It's a decent beer, but nothing to write home about. Guinness is mostly overrated to begin with and this new beer does nothing to dispel my feelings. It's something better than normal ole draught, but it's a very average beer. Fairly easy to drink.

A rather impressive lager to me. Poured nearly black with hints of brown. nearly no head left though, may be a half finger or so. Taste was sharp but overtly refreshing. beer was very heavy though. good beer for repeadly drinking for a few days or so then off to the next one.

A- Black bodied lager poured into a pint glass. A bubbly head forms with massive air pockets (almost looks soapy) and great retention. Bubbly ring leaves a few spots down the glass.

S- Nutty caramel malts with dark fruits make up the bulk of the nose. Not much roast or anything like that, reminds me of the other Euro Dark Lagers I have tried. Fairly faint.

T- Like the nose, a dark fruit almost spicy raisin like flavor mixed with nutty, toasted malts. Slight roast, cereal grain, toffee and tart hints.

MF- Moderately carbonated light end body with a silky overall feel. Somewhat watery.

Comparable to most of the other Euro Dark Lagers I have tried. The mouthfeel is just a bit too light but besides that, not bad.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Guinness pint glass. A dark brown, almos black color. Can see why they call it black lager. Smelled like a less aromatic version of Guinness. Nothing really jumped out at me, flavor-wise. This bottle had been in my fridge for a while, so it tasted a bit sour towards the end, but not bad. Overall, a fine beer. Much more "drinkable" than regular Guinness. Nothing to write home about, but fine. If you like Guinness, this would be a good alternative for the warmer months.
