Aroma: Medium and balanced. A roast character with subtle fermentation fruitiness

Flavor: A perfect rounded flavor of bitter and sweet

Palate: Smooth with a slight bite leading to a dry finish

Appearance: Distinctively black full bodied liquid with a rich creamy head

This is the USA/Canada version of Guinness Original Extra Stout

Poured from 11.2oz glass bottle
The look is fantastically dark doesnt let any light through. A tan head that's fine on top bit through the glass the bubbles look larger farther down. This is a traditional CO2 brew only draught is nitro. But the head retention is epic and leaves a layer of foamy head even after sitting for over 15 minutes of slow drinking (and forgetting about it) heavy heavy lacing.

The smell is rich with vanilla and roasty bitterness, maybe some light coffee notes. The fermentation character is present but subtle and there is a light tartness on the nose. Overall creamy and sweet smelling though.

Flavor mostly follows the smell but with more almost savory roasty notes from the malt very smooth and enjoyable, but not very sweet as should be expected from guiness. Some bitterness from the hops bit nothing major just offering balance. Some of that fermentation character does come through slightly as well but not very noticeable. Almost too easy to drink bit very enjoyable.

Feel is creamy yet smooth and very easy to put down not watery and is a bit thick but still quite drinkable. If it came in cans you might be able to shotgun it (but it doesnt) quite a lot of flavor for that though.

Overall a good everyday stout that gives you more than a macro but not to much to be something you cant put down at a party or offend peoples tastebuds with something unfamiliar.

Better than I expected, this is a good take on the style and considering the ABV, punching above its weight. The taste is solid, the feel is great and the appearance beautiful. Nice beer.

19.2oz can into an English pint glass. Pours a uniform brownish black with a big, loose, sudsy tannish-white head that settles to a nice seafoam cap on the beer, some patchy lace around the sides of the glass.

Aroma is roasty and a bit minerally, subtle, delicate, clean. Not picking up notes of much anything, but what’s there suggests dark roasted malt and water.

Taste is likewise clean and malty, a blend of bitter and sweet. The quality of the water is on full display here—beers often mask or hide the taste of the water behind massive malt and hops, but here it’s used as an ingredient just as important as the others.

Mouthfeel is also not watery but also not thick, heavy, or chewy. In a word, this beer is drinkable. One could easily put away several pints without thinking much about it or even necessarily tasting the beer all that much. Nice dry finish leaves you constantly craving another sip.

Overall, it’s safe to say there’s a reason Guinness is as popular as it is. This is an enjoyable, unassuming, straightforward beer that is clearly made quite well. My socks are not knocked off, my head is not blown. I can simply enjoy this classic stout for what it is.

Look: Pure black with a luscious light-brown head.
Smell: Excellent. Sweet and roasted.
Taste: A strong bitterness with coffee undertones subsides to a sweet, fruit-filled finish.
Feel: Superb. Light and medium-bodied.
Overall: Great beer, especially for today (St. Patrick's Day)

Enjoyed on tap at T.J. Smith's in Warrington, PA. Served in a Guinness pint glass.

Came to the table with a downward cascading massive beige head. Deep, dark, almost black color. Totally opaque. The dense head subsided but still lasted until the very last sip.

Not much on the nose except some roasted malts.

A tasty stout. Slightly bitter, acidic taste with flavors of deep roasted malts and chocolate. The ABV isn't noticeable.

Thin consistancy, moderate carbonation.

I've had a Guinness stout many times but never rated. I'm a huge stout fan and Guinness isn't a beer I usually purchase just due to the fact I like a more full-bodied, creamier stout. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed this after a long absence. Very easy drinking, not too filling and a nice brew to celebrate St. Patty's Day eve with...cheers!

Black body with a healthy light tan, 1 finger head. My nose picks up roasted malt, bread, and some nuttiness. Taste is of roasted malt and hop bitterness. Very nice mouthfeel…smooth, creamy, deep body and fine carbonation. A perfect example of the style.

Unknown date on the bottle (I don't know their code); drank 1/14/24 @ Roadrunner Lodge.

Dark brown appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge tan head; frothy lacing remained.

Cream, oats & mild chocolate notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Cream, oats & mild chocolate flavors; mild dark fruit notes emerged as this warmed.

Easy to drink but quite flavorful. A classic for a reason.

I haven't had this in years, and can't believe I've never reviewed.

Pours very dark but not opaque. Brown-black. Excellent lingering tan head. Lacing is limited but persists fairly well.

Herbal and dark fruit notes on the nose along with ashy roasted notes.

Deceptive caramel sweetness on the very tip of the tongue. Licorice and dark fruit on the finish. Coffee and roasted notes in the middle. Well balanced.

Medium bodied, mildly but pleasantly carbonated, and very drinkable.

Somehow better than the original in nearly every way. The flavor and aroma are more distinguished.
