Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Smell is of roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, and I taste a citrus taste to it. Also taste banana of all things. Mouthfeel is medium for a stout. Overall good beer.

Pours jet black with rich tan head and sticky lacing. Nose is burnt sugar, malt, syrup, and figs. Flavor follows the nose, this is my go to stout, always rich and warm, very clean flavors, just the grandaddy of stouts. By far my favorite Guinness.

11.2oz bottled 6/15/17 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 7.5% ABV. The beer pours dense very dark brown nearing black with abundant light brown head. Retention and lacing are above average. The aroma is a semisweet fruity roasty combination that I only find in this style. The taste follows with a semisweet cherry/berry overtone with slightly tangy dark roasted flavors underneath. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated, smooth and balanced. There is a definite roasty bitterness on the finish that keeps things from finishing too sweet or wet. Overall, excellent. This should be no surprise as Guinness pretty well invented the style. Recommended. Nice change of pace from American or Russian imperial stouts.

Coco and roasted malts, heavy on the roast. Crisp with roasty after-tones with a dark dark beer.

Taste rating in words: simmering coals on a cold winter day with a good movie and a cuddle buddy

Black with three fingers of long-lasting, dark tan head that leave solid lacing.

It has a modest aroma of dry, roasted malts with chocolate behind.

Nice dry, roasty taste as well, with just the slightest of sour twangs and a hint of vanilla. Bitterness lingers on the backend, evoking chocolate and coffee. Quite tasty.

Medium bodied with just a touch of creaminess and low carbonation in the feel.

This is a delicious beer. In comparison to the Antwerpen and 200th Anniversary Export this is definitely the most dialed-back of the export stouts in the anniversary 12-pack. It's flavors are drier and more refined, and in some ways, I like it best for that. Among all four, it's definitely the one I'd turn to for a regular-rotation brew.

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout | Guinness Ltd. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head on this brew is three fingers thick and tan, with solid lacing, and a black body.

I smell rich roasted malts with a generous amount of hops as labeling implies, but not black IPA amounts.

The depth of the roasted malts gets very nicely balanced by those hops. Also present are notes of toffee, black licorice, and fresh pipe tobacco.

Slightly heavier than medium mouthfeel and mild carbonation.

Guinness Foreign Extra Stout | Guinness Ltd. gets an overall 4.5. So far my favorite of this variety pack.

Bottled on 15 June 2017. From the 200th Anniversary Mix Pack.

Pours a very dark brown. Thick, frothy khaki colored head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses & subtle coffee. Taste follows the same for the most part - dark roasted malts with cocoa and slight coffee. Mid way some hop bitterness comes through. A creamy, full mouthfeel which finishes a touch dry. This is a well made stout. One I wish was more readily available in the States. Highly recommended.

Looks as you'd expect, though the barm is not very full. Aroma has the classic dry Irish with just a pinch more roasted malt. Taste is certainly fuller than regular Guinness but is still smooth & cajoling. Medium roasted malt, faint chocolate, pings of hop bitterness towards the backend and finish. Finish is a bit weird cause you got the hops and the dry Irish flavor & that combo is a little plasticy. Perhaps could have folded the hops in better, but otherwise a solid shelf stout.

From the bottle, it pours a solid dark brown color with a robust head. The head hangs around a bit. Lacing. Burnt malt and sweetish scent in the nose. Pleasant burnt malt flavor. Yum!
