It was almost black in colour with a tan frothy white head.

Smelled pretty rich of coffee and malts.

The taste was that of coffee, malts with a bit of a bitter chocolate after taste.

This felt really smooth with just a little carbonation.

Overall it was very nice, for me this and the extra stout were pretty comparable. Both quite a bit better than regular Guinness.

A- Pours a deep brown, almost black with hardly any light coming through the glass. Big pillowy, frothy tan head floats on top long after the pour. Awesome lacing already just from the head residing.

S- very robust. Dark chocolate malts, toasted coffee, vanilla, prune, and just a bit of hop spiciness.

T- starts malty sweet with notes of bitter-sweet chocolate and cocoa, finishes with slight hop spice and ends very bitter. We're talking the same bitterness from drinking a robust coffee.

M- low carbonation, medium bodied, and silky.

Overall this is my favorite from Guinness, not for the non stout drinkers! My only complaint is that the taste and mouthfeel don't quite match up to the robust smell. Still a great stout!

Poured from 330mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: utter, complete black poured with 3+ fingers of creamy tan foam with decent retention. Chunky tan lace is left on the glass; superb.

Smell: rich, sweet, fruity aroma including raisins, dates and plums; there's a little vanilla in there as well and a little chocolate. Fantastico.

Taste: rich flavor with the same fruitiness of the aroma with a bit of chocolatey roastiness at the end. Not quite as enticing as the aroma, but still very good.

Mouthfeel: low carbonation but a big body with a nice creamy silkiness. Good.

Overall: very tasty strong stout with a superb aroma. A bit more depth of roast in the flavor would be wonderful.

Purchased in Las Vegas during the trip in November. Apparently, this is available in SLC, but the DABC cannot seem to actually stock it in stores. Poured into my beer goblet.

Appearance: A very nice looking almost black beer with reddish edges. It has a one finger wide head with bubbles of varying sizes. Leaves some nice lacing as well.

Smell: Roasty malts, some alcohol, along with fruit notes from the yeast and or hops.

Taste: A solid beer. The flavor starts out with some semi sweet chocolate notes to go along with the roasty char and over roasted coffee flavor. After the initial bitterness subsides ti turns a little sweeter with some lactose notes along with some generic fruity sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Thicker than garden variety Guinness, this one is probably medium/thick. The flavors really coat the mouth nicely. The carbonation is on the lower side, but still a little prickly. Very nice.

Overall: This may be overwhelming for people who are not used to dark beers, or if they think Guinness is a meal in and of itself. One the other hand, if you like dark beers, give this one a try. A very tasty beer, that I will return to.

11.2oz bottle poured into Chimay goblet.

Appearance: Jet black color with a 1.5" khaki head. Settles to 1/4" a few minutes after pouring. Swirling the glass thickens the head and laces the sides of the glass.

Aroma: Intense smell of malt, tobacco, bourbon. Hints of raisin and other dark fruits. Slight merlot smell.

Taste: Great roasted malt taste. Flavors of fig, tobacco and raisin. Hops are present upon swallowing leaving a lingering aftertaste.

Mouth: Nice foamy feel as you sip through this beers head. Thick feeling but not a heavy beer. Slightly sticky after sipping.

Overall: Definitely an addition to the Guinness line up that I can stand behind. My favorite bottled Guinness thus far.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: poured extremely dark, thin mocha colored head.

S: strong enough to overcome my cold! Some coffee, slightly burnt smell but very pleasant.

T: full, complex taste. Follows the smell nicely. A bit of bitterness but very nice. I really enjoy this beer!

M: smooth on the palate. May need to let this warm up a bit.

O: fantastic! I will definitely drink this again!

Wow I really never saw this beer coming. I've heard great things about this beer and I've been dying to try it myself.

A: Pours a black really nice tan head and great lacing.

S: While its a bit lacking it it still well above average. I get a sweetness off the nose that I can't get over. Really inviting.

T: I love the hoppy sweetness right up front. Really tasty beer that. Finishes a little drier but makes you want to just keep sipping.

M: A tad bit thin but damn this is drinkable. I could easily have a few of these in a night and not think twice.

O: What a beer that came out of left field. I never thought I'd be this impressed with a guinness but I have been proven wrong. I'd highly recommend this to anyone!

A: Black in color with slight brown hues as it's held up to the light. Poured a small tan head that receded immediately into a thin foam ring with moderate lacing.

S: Roasted malts, nuts, earthy hops, raisins, bitter chocolate, metal.

T: Bittersweet milk chocolate, nuts, piney hops, roasty, and smokey.

M: Thin bodied, dry finish, moderate carbonation.

O: Overall a decent beer. It's quite drinkable but a little on the weak side as far as taste and mouthfeel go.

An aggressive pour netted a 3-finger mocha colored head over a dark brown/black body. Lacing slowly falls down back into the beer every time.

Chocolate, mild coffee aromas and roasted malt smell delicious in this. A little hops seem to sneak in on the end to round it out.

This beer starts off mild mannered. Roasted malt, a little caramel or toffee, and then explodes with dark chocolate, a hint of hops and more roasted malt.

Creamy, mild, with just enough carbonation to sweep her down your tongue, the mouth feel on this baby is near perfect.
