Irish version (not International).
Deepest black color with a very thick head with eternal retention and leaving some laces.
Nice aroma with predominant creamy chocolate notes, also coffee and roasted grains, caramel, dry fruits, grape juice and mild herbal.
Flavor with notes of roasted coffee beans, earthy and herbal hops, licorice, hay, caramel, grapes, faint sourness, cocoa powder, oats, plums, a bit of tobacco and biscuit. Dry aftertaste with a lingering roasted note and a medium bitterness.
Bordering full body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 7.5% is absent.
Classical Foreign Extra Stout that translates bittersweet. This is so much fun than the regular version and gets fanciful at room temperature. I cannot wait to taste the Nigerian version I have on my fridge.

A good strong stout, with distinct hops bitterness and a well-rounded body. Roasted character played a good role.

The second offering I have pulled out of their 200th anniversary pack, and it did not disappoint...

A beautifully dark, practically black beer - clear, oh so clear it was eye-rubbing unbelievable. The head had nice staying power and lacing all the way down the glass. The smell had a hint of booziness to it, a distinct smell of chocolate with light on hops, heavy on malt. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied, a slight creaminess to it and light on carbonation - just the way I like it. Taste had the chocolaty taste too it, it was certainly malty and I truly enjoyed the hoppy background. Overall I was definitely impressed with this brew - enjoyed it quite a bit.

Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Smell is of roasted malt. Taste is roasted malt, and I taste a citrus taste to it. Also taste banana of all things. Mouthfeel is medium for a stout. Overall good beer.

Pours jet black with rich tan head and sticky lacing. Nose is burnt sugar, malt, syrup, and figs. Flavor follows the nose, this is my go to stout, always rich and warm, very clean flavors, just the grandaddy of stouts. By far my favorite Guinness.

11.2oz bottled 6/15/17 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 7.5% ABV. The beer pours dense very dark brown nearing black with abundant light brown head. Retention and lacing are above average. The aroma is a semisweet fruity roasty combination that I only find in this style. The taste follows with a semisweet cherry/berry overtone with slightly tangy dark roasted flavors underneath. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated, smooth and balanced. There is a definite roasty bitterness on the finish that keeps things from finishing too sweet or wet. Overall, excellent. This should be no surprise as Guinness pretty well invented the style. Recommended. Nice change of pace from American or Russian imperial stouts.
