11.2 oz bottle was poured into a nonic glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger mocha head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pitch black color with no visibility. Nice lacing on the glass from the reduced head.

Smell: Caramel, chocolate, toffee, roasted coffee, toasted malts, burnt molasses, and stale ale smell.

Taste: Same as above with a little smoke and mild tingly bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Creamy smooth, full bodied, medium carbonation, a little chewy, and a little bitterness in the rear.

Overall: Great beer for this cold Boston weather. Too bad it only comes in 4 packs. They should expand to 6 packs.

poured into a 20oz 'pint' glass...

a: khaki colored foam, fluffy and tall. black colored opaque liquid.

s: dark toast, licorice, demi-glace, sweet cola, french roast coffee.

t: heavy roast, espresso, char. bitter astringency you expect from a stout.

m: pour it correctly you will have a low carbonated brew. mouth coating. light astringency lingers.

o: this is a bigger version of guinness stout. however it is easy to drink and goes well in colder months or a night capper with a creme brulee or sweet dessert. very enjoyable.

This is the gold standard of stouts. (Not to be confused with the other Guinness Extra Stout--this is the real deal.) To be sipped and savored, it's simply delicious. Best enjoyed by itself or maybe with some salted nuts, because you won't want anything to get in the way of the awesome taste.
