wanted to have a drink with a friend and the only local place was at one of those depressing bars that are always occupied by 4 middle aged men complaining about their wives because it was the only one nearby. it was this, miller, or bud light.

appearance; the least poor aspect of the beer, but still not good. deep, slightly cloudy brown that looked a little watery, thin head that quickly dissipates.

smell. weak malt and bread.

taste; initial taste is watery, small hints of malt and grain.

mouthfeel; thin, weak carbonation. creamy but watered down, an awful combination.

overall; would not drink again, would sooner have a diet coke

Re-review with fresher batch in London
Hard to beat Guinness appearance, with its down cascade of brown beige waves turning to a deep black color. Thick and consistent head that lingers forever.
Mild aroma of cream, vanilla, chocolate and toasted malts.
Similarly, creamy, sweet roasted malts and a touch of dark chocolate flavor. Hints of earthy and herbal hops. Mildly bitter, though it gives some random spikes and with a dry and toasted like aftertaste.
Light to medium body, but still a bit watery, which is unexpected. Carbonation quite low, tiny bubbles.
Classic, used to love it 15 years ago, but general benchmark moved up. Now there are lots of better choices.
